I’m looking for 100% Filipino people who are willing to submit a cheek swab test in hopes for a genetic match to my aunt, who is battling blood cancer. The registry for stem cells doesn’t have many Filipino people in it, and joining it could help many. Please share/reach out to me!

This is my friend's cat. Its name is Cookie Swirl, and it disappeared in the American section of Charlotte airport on 11/10. We're asking for your help. She doesn't have any other socials, so if you can post it widely to see if anyone knows where it is. It's a little thing, but matters a lot to her.

I'm teaching indexing at TMU in January. Any questions?

Margaret, winter 2025: Alex is an engaging instructor who generously shares her knowledge and her expertise. Alex's feedback was perceptive and encouraging.... Alex instilled a deep appreciation for the art and craft of indexing.

Small class sizes, interactions with other students (written) and with the instructor (me, online video chat), and all about indexing. What's not to love? Course starts January 19, 2026. Ask me about it. continuing.torontomu.ca/search/publi...

I think it’s great we’re trying to attract the people who feel scared or unwelcome, and making a point of saying ‘you don’t need to feel that here, anymore.’

COVID isn’t acting like the viruses most of us grew up with, and treating it like “just a cold” is putting people at real risk. David Brasure breaks down why SARS-CoV-2 is fundamentally different, how it causes long-term damage, and what we can do to protect ourselves.

As the holidays approach, we are still here, creating art.

As the world burns, it seems only appropriate we are making raku, if only as a reminder that from fire comes new life.

I know times are tough, but hopefully my work can find a good home. You can help by sharing🙏

For indexing, I can't decide between the belittling "Can't a computer/AI do that?" or the baffling "Do you have to read the whole book?", as if having to read a whole book was some sort of dire punishment #IndexSky
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

If you're not actively reducing the risk of illness, maybe ask your organization, "why?" Are you comfortable hosting a celebratory event that requires people to self-segregate? Are you okay allowing illness that can cause physical and economic hardship to spread without any mitigation? /end

I call this thread “why I’ll be eating Canadian products for the next decade”.
NEW: Billions of pounds of food are imported to the U.S. each year.

The FDA inspects foreign producers to ensure what we're eating is safe from pathogens and dangerous manufacturing practices.

But now, after Trump's drastic staff cuts, these inspections have plummeted to a historic low.

Foreign Food Safety Inspections Hit Historic Low After Trump Cuts
The dramatic shift in oversight comes at a time when the U.S. has never been more reliant on foreign food, which accounts for the vast majority of the nation’s seafood and more than half its fresh fru...
