CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

in most of the ways in which it's possible to lose, we've lost. we're losers. we lost the big stuff: the future, the past, and the human threads between Then, Now, and Then: the trellis from which hope swayed in the wind and ripened. and we lost the small stuff: the second-run theaters, the flurries of moths under sodium-vapor streetlights, and the shoes, tied together, tossed over electrical lines. and we keep losing and losing: they're building more pipelines, they're mining more lithium, they're hiring more cops, they're filling more prisons, they're killing more families, and we keep losing and losing. maybe we're losing like dandelions. dandelions are always losing: mowed-down, dug-up—left to die on sidewalks—or sprayed away: sulfentrazone, triclopyr, dicamba, et cetera. if all else fails—and it always does— then they pave over everything, but dandelions come back, ready to lose again and again: middle fingers pushing seed-puffs through asphalt. the color of hope must be dandelion-yellow.

no great artists have ever struggled, a famous thing about artists that we all know. everyone prior to three years ago lived lives of luxury.
the stupid 'talent is a gatekeeping mechanism' thread that's going around, three posts reading: tired of having these arguments so i'm gonna lay out the STARK reality of AI for some of you privileged fucks: 1. "talent" is a gatekeeping mechanism that has created a culture of professionalism that is no less of an ivory tower than academia, a moralized proxy for access to time, training, money. 2. being poor means having to make hard choices like: [a] drawing something yourself in a way society would call "bad" (i.e. unprofessional) [b] sacrificing resources you don't have to pay a real artist what they're worth (or learn yourself) [c] not doing it at all, or [d] using AI. “just don’t use AI” is a luxury position. when people moralize choices made under scarcity, they’re pretending the menu is the same for everyone. it fucking isn’t.
