"One of Trump's most consistent beliefs is that the world will end in nuclear annihilation. He mentions this often in older interviews. He fears it. I worry the way he copes with his fear of annihilation is by becoming the annihilator. The man who can end the world." www.youtube.com/watch?v=htdw...

Guys. Stop telling me to stop looking at Instagram. I never touched tiktok. I've never used Facebook. There are a shit ton of great artists using countless mediums on Instagram I would have not found otherwise. Artists are kinda forced to use social media now so an all or nothing attitude ain't it.

lol when women challenge the indignity of sexualization even in the most trivial or gentle ways, men absolutely piss themselves.
So, let me get this straight. Some weirdo mods bigger boobs onto a video game character, a trans journalist asks why, and the internet hounds her off Bluesky? The fuck is wrong with y'all?

Parker Malloy, you did not deserve this shit.

A reminder - before Trump, MAGA, Musk and Fox rewrote history - that this is what the entire country agreed had happened five years ago today:

This is on day 3, when things look successful.

80% is low for Trump on most issues, and it's where he started on other issues that have badly gone south for him, like Epstein.
Will "non-interventionist" MAGA go along? Yup.

A new WaPo poll finds only 40% overall approve of the Maduro capture and only 37% say this was appropriate without Congress.

But 80% of Trump voters support the capture and 78% are fine with not going to Congress. 6/

“You’re doing something problematic.”

“Oh, okay. Can you tell me what I did so I can do better?”

“See, this is why we can’t talk to you people! You’re the problem!”

“But what did I do!?”

“That!”

“WHAT!?”

“YOU’RE DOING IT AGAIN!”

“WHAT AM I DOING!?”

GDT's Victor is another reflection of that: his motivation was never "I must destroy disease and bring the dead back to life", it was "I must prove I'm better than my father."

You even have Harlander explicitly saying "you could cure my syphilis!" and Victor replying "No". That wasn't the point.

In that sense, Victor really is like certain "innovators" of today, and their cronies; for instance, those who argue that we need not focus on fixing the housing crisis because "one day we'll live on Mars!".

A man who sees his pipe dreams as more important than reality.

Another adaptation could grapple with your points, but the motivation of "Frankenstein" was never "I can bring the dead back to life": it was "I can discover the Elixir". He isn't a scientist, and doesn't think he should be limited by the focus of medical science.

People forget that in the book, Victor was initially a student of *alchemy* and his Professors clearly tell him that his viewpoint of the world and science have been warped as a result.

In that sense, arguably the book version isn't so much reanimating corpses; more conjuring up a homunculus.

Which would be relevant today, given tech bros are the obvious modern-day stand-in for Frankenstein; given their total inability to grasp what makes life worth living; and given their monomaniacal attempt to solve only the non-problem problem "rich people still rely on other people for their wealth"

What I mean I suppose is that everyone who sees VF's intent accepts the approach but condemns his hubris

like "to beat death is playing God and sins against nature" not "what? that doesn't beat death! it creates life, maybe, but the dead obviously stay dead here, what are you doing?"

The point of beating death is "we don't want to die and we don't want our loved ones to die" and trying to solve for "bodies stop moving when they die and they should keep moving" demonstrates a total lack of understanding.

Yes, this *is* the point, but I feel like it doesn't ever get made.

I'd like to see one Frankenstein ever that just grapples with the fact that somebody obsessed with beating death should be working on sickness and the aging process, not trying to re-animate dead tissue, like what did you *think* success would look like, Vic.

Everything happening now was obvious by March 2021. That's why I wrote about it *then*.

This matters because this is a planned autocracy. Feigned surprise at horrors is meant to rewrite history and present our plight as if it wasn't a plan obvious four years ago and countenanced by both parties.

Every single Proud Boy and Oath Keeper who attacked the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 was protected and supported by his friends (or coworkers) on the local police force back home.

They were also protected by MPD on Nov 14 and Dec 12 2020 in DC.

That, to me, is the big picture of January 6th.

I am more and more convinced that right-wingers are like this because they surround themselves with sociopaths to the point they don't know when they're broken inside because they're the same as the people they are regularly around.

Traumatized people traumatizing their kids.
