And even then, the 25th Amendment doesn't actually remove the president from office. It makes the VP acting president, able to discharge the powers and duties, but the president doesn't go away entirely and could still potentially return if they recover from whatever incapacity.

If you have the votes for Congress to sustain the use of 25A Section 4, you have more than enough votes to impeach and remove. It's not some easier cheat code way around impeachment, it's structured as it is specifically so it can't be used that way.

In principle, using the 25th Amendment would be amply justified. In practice, VP + majority of Cabinet + two thirds in both houses of Congress is just a harder way to get the same result as a majority of the House + two thirds in the Senate. By design, the 25th is harder than impeachment.

One of my fave political stories ever: when Maine’s GOP then-Gov LePage thought that not signing bills by deadline meant they’d die.
So he ignored all these Dem bills, thinking it’d kill them.
But in Maine, if Gov just does nothing (rather than veto), a bill becomes law.
So they all became law.

I’m not sure people outside the Twin Cites realize the prevalence and the fear ICE is causing in Twin Cities. They are dining undercover pretending to be couples at restaurants, they are going to businesses and checking the license plates of cars to find employees. Every public place is compromised.
