I do feel like this administration has effectively put a moratorium on every "but what if someone you don't like does this to you?" argument for the next fifteen years at least like well they did! They did do that! So now I think we've earned a little impugning on the rights of reactionaries.
Years of having to tell Republicans no, we are not going to "throw you in prison" for misgendering trans people & now they want to throw people in prison for not misgendering or refusing treatment of trans people so we should remember this and just do what theyre afraid of next pendulum swing

I think people misunderstand what's meant though by "spreading freedom". It's not just a lie and pretext. It's actually true. But freedom for whom? In this case, like all others, its freedom for US business to extract and profit off of resources they otherwise don't have access to.
