As these war criminals meet, remember that Israel is still bombing Gaza with US weapons, the genocide is ongoing, and at least 8000 Palestinian hostages remain in Israeli prisons.

Corporate media will likely ask about none of these atrocities.

Israel says Merry Christmas to all of you, by beating up and arresting a Palestinian Christian dressed up as Santa to celebrate Christmas. That's in-between Israel's continued genocide, illegal invasions, apartheid, and ceasefire violations, of course. Happy holidays!

I mean, I'm on edge because I'm also trans and in academia. However, the cis instructor who gave the same grade was not removed. I think that's a fairly critical discussion point in this.

This was less about "because I think it's on the Bible" and much more about targeting a trans person.
If you’re wondering why your friends in academia are a little on edge right now, it’s because an eighteen-year-old who hasn’t done the reading, doesn’t look at the assignment, and has does no critical thinking skills more complex than “because I think it’s in the Bible” can literally end your career

All I can think of this Christmas is that last Christmas, between 70,000 and 120,000 Palestinians were alive that have since been murdered by Israel's genocide. Over half of them were children. That's 500 to 1,000 children murdered per week. Or 82 during a four hour Christmas evening.

Five children died from hypothermia in makeshift tents.

Cold is not a natural disaster when shelter is denied. Israel prevented the entry of mobile homes and shelters.

Gaza is suffering from an Israeli-made crisis. This suffering is being manufactured by policy, not weather.

The utility of genAI—whether it can actually perform the task at hand—is irrelevant and OSS ultimately a trap to bother talking about it.

There is literally no amount of usefulness it can add that could make it worthwhile. None. Willing users are either ignorant or willfully choosing massive harm.

Gaza is the greatest legal test of our time. If war crimes against Palestinians go unpunished, it signals not only genocide but the collapse of international law. Your support helps us act where governments will not. Your support defies impunity.

The confusion and conflation of ‘generative ai that is built on stolen artwork’ and ‘machine learning, character behaviour modelling and proc gen’ is intentional on the part of the grifters peddling the former. The only consistent, guiding principle with conservatism is that rich white men get to control everybody else. Any other principle conservatives claim to espouse is easily discarded when it doesn't suit their one true aim.
conservatism was never just a different political opinion, it was always racism, sexism, and a need to control others

Building on this: by 'techno-optimism' I'm referring to a belief anything proposed is possible. This is hand in glove with techno-determinism, the belief that what's proposed is inevitable. This fuels 'AI' propaganda and helps explain why sweaty hucksters such as Sam Altman are taken seriously
Pop science fiction has much to answer for; it has served techno/optimist ideology. People who should know better think the use of statistics via algorithm = 'AI' cures because this is an old trope they've seen countless times,

My standard response is "tell me, in specific detail, how exactly I'll be 'left behind,'" and to date not a single techbro has ever answered the question. "You'll be left behind" is a statement of religious faith, not business fact, and should be treated as such.
So the “figure out how to use it lest you be left behind” replies about ‘AI’ that have been popping up here strike me as inauthentic but also kind of funny because they grant the point that rather than an automation panacea these technologies are quite difficult to figure out how to use effectively
