Super excited to share our newest story! We found that despite their well-known reliance on glucose, neutrophils also like lipids! Lipid uptake is induced by immune signals, and we think this is important in atherosclerosis and other lipotoxic metabolic diseases!

This one is a great collaboration with @astratman.bsky.social on characterization of U12-spliceosome gene ZCRB1, U12-intron splicing and its role in ciliogenesis and WNT-signaling. Halloween passed but we can still get headless zebrafish. #RNA #splicing #RNAbiology

🧪 3 tenure-track microbiome faculty job openings in Hawaii! 🌞 🏄🏽‍♀️ 🍄 🧫 🧬 🦃

Please spread the word about 3 tenure track, hard-money microbiome faculty positions. These are well-resourced, come with their own grants, few teaching requirements (but lots of opportunities), potential footprint in our marine lab.

One reason I got into science social media was a small project to highlight women whose work I admire in neural engineering & systems/comp neuro. Since X is dying, I'm migrating those posts here. To give folks their due, we'll go one post per day.

Follow along to celebrate some amazing science!
