What to do about foreign talent?
A debate raged in the court of Qin 2,200yrs ago:

‘Important officials told the King of Qin: “People from [other] states who come to serve Qin merely travel here to cause dissension in Qin on behalf of their own rulers. We request the complete expulsion of aliens.”

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have £40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.

1) No, it isn’t.
2) This is performative cruelty and nothing else.
3) The people you’re pitching this for will never, ever, ever vote for you.

I have childhood memories of the UK in the late 70’s. There were power cuts and blackouts, uncollected rubbish on the streets, football hooliganism, National Front marches and race riots, and IRA bombs. Only three TV channels, limited overseas travel and the most exotic food was a Vesta curry. 🤪
The rot really set in when the woke brigade cancelled Spangles.

It's an interesting Q as to whether if there was an indisputable smoking gun linking Trump to the crimes the GOP would have the guts to properly turn on him (impeachment etc...).
“In an email from January 2019, Mr. Epstein wrote to Mr. Wolff of Mr. Trump: “Of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop.””

Starting to see why Mike Johnson kept the House shut down for weeks rather than allow the 218th signature to release the Epstein docs…
"In one email, Epstein told Maxwell, 'I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is Trump.' He added that an unnamed victim 'spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned.'"

“'I have been thinking about that,' Maxwell wrote back."

Congrats India! As a semi-Saffer I’m sad that Wolvaardt’s brilliant knock was in vain, but that was a great WCWC final. Some great bowling and batting on display, and so inspiring for young female cricketers.

The chief executive officer of the USA is raising revenue through import duties without consulting the representatives of the people; exactly 250 years on from the start of the American Revolution.

Having said that, I am amazed that the USA has allowed themselves become a dictatorship. If there was any doubt, Bannon’s latest statement about Trump staying on in 2028, and Trump demolishing part of the White House to erect a massive vanity project should be a bit of a giveaway.

Wow, I seem to have suddenly got a load of followers. Welcome, all of you 🤗. Just to manage expectations, I’m not an American lawyer campaigning for social justice (although Atticus Finch is my literary hero). Brace yourself for slightly more British commentary than the handle might indicate 🙂

This is next level genius. For those of you not familiar with the flag next to the Stars and Stripes, it’s the Apartheid-era South African flag.

I think a lot of people feel this. I found myself watching a Two Ronnies Xmas special the other night and realised it wasn’t very good, but I was pining for something lost.
Thinking about @youngvulgarian.marieleconte.com's reasons to hate Xmas piece and I think the reason I have grown to dislike it is partly that I loved it so much as a kid - the presents, going through the Radio times, the food, the holidays....

..and now I just don't care about it and that's sad.
