“We will not let Japan down”, promised the Australian Govt last year in Nagoya. And it hasn’t! It’s introduced a prospective gas reservation policy that instead lets Aussie families and businesses down. No electricity price relief. Total betrayal! #auspol

The Government’s Gas Reservation Policy is nothing short of a betrayal. They claim it will put downward pressure on gas and electricity prices. It won’t.

The concentration of wealth in the hands of an elite few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, the American people don't have a voice.

The result is demagoguery and corruption.

This is not specific to ICE JSYK. When my mother was evicted from our old family home, they helped themselves to our things too. And I hear of people who, when they are taken into police custody, have their personal possessions (ordinary, non-problematic items) lifted from them out of greed.
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

Thanks @1earthmedia.bsky.social. After years reporting the horror story of climate science, warnings & impacts, I really needed to find the stories of Nannas Dom & Helen, & all the activists I interviewed for this story. Healing and inspiring.
This is a good read by Jo Chandler in The Monthly about the Knitting Nannas.

925 billionaires are why we don’t have affordable housing, universal healthcare, child care & education.

They’re the reason there’s so much suffering & poverty.

America is poised to have the world’s first trillionaire in Elon Musk… a man whose decision to cancel USAID has already killed 600,000.
America has 925 billionaires as of this year. Collectively they have a record $6.9 trillion in wealth.

The bottom 50% of Americans control $4.2 trillion in wealth.

When 925 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

If giving tax breaks to people to buy multiple houses was likely to push house prices down, then buying houses would be a pretty crap investment and no one would do it.

Who wants to buy an asset that government policy is going to lower the value of?

Nothing has changed.

As of Dec 9 there’s been 73 school shootings in the US in 2025.

You know how many school shootings Canada had? 0.

The UK? 0.

Australia? 0.

American kids deserve better.

Dear #NSWCHO.

I saw lots of people wearing masks and respirators today, however, none of those that were sick were wearing one.

It looks like urging people that aren’t worried doesn’t work. Probably need more frequent or stronger messaging.

Zero episodes of coughing observed in mask wearers.

I haven’t had the flu in ages… because I use all the tools, however, if I did, the chance of finding me anywhere except somewhere between the kettle, the medicine box, the kids, and my bed… is ZERO.

Rest is important for recovery. Spreading bugs no one wants is anti-social.

I get sick leave tho.
Now we have advice to say go to work when sick, possibly with the flu in a gappy surgical mask. This is not health advice at this point. I don’t believe it isn’t politically driven. No one should work with the flu or COVID. Both are serious infections that can kill people. The flu is not a mild cold
