It occurs to me that part of my reaction to Superman (2025) is just that after decades of grimdark it's nice to see the hero of a movie be all "I am good, and I want to be good, and I have a heart, and a wear it on my sleeve and I believe in being good, and I care damnit. I just... I care so much."

It's wild to me how often I've heard parents say some version of "it'll happen when they're ready" re: their kid still not knowing how to read & write at a concerning age
Like...based on what? If literacy is just a thing that eventually *happens*, why didn't it just *happen* for illiterate adults?
