This cannot be accepted as normal in a civilised country.
Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

Hannah Arendt weeps.
What is the MATTER with these people? This is what Nazis did to Jews arriving at concentration camps - tearing children from their parents arms. I can’t believe these scenes. Why aren’t there mass protests? Why is Congress silent?
Masked goons are tearing families apart, pulling parents away from their children. The family is attempting to navigate the legal system, but this situation is truly horrifying. I'm genuinely afraid for the future of this country.

AI coding tools are as good (and bad) as human developers
A variant on this post has been written so many times over the past couple of years, but I feel compelled to write up my recent experience on this

"Freedom of speech"
Also, Facebook is mass deleting posts by professors and @aaup.bsky.social members who are posting about yesterday's opinion in AAUP v. Rubio.

All links to the opinion are being auto-flagged by Meta's community standards bot. Crazy.

Is this what a good Christian looks like?
Vance's Easter visit to Rome clogged its streets with a 40-vehicle entourage. He also demanded the Coliseum be closed so he and his family could tour it alone. Tourists who properly booked slots in advance got screwed.

He's apparently the first to make that demand. Then he didn't bother to show up.

@azeem.bsky.social was curious - I do track your thoughts on the AI market more widely, but note you rarely if ever mention Mistral or other European players - was keen to understand why?

JD Vance visits the Vatican, gets a last minute audience with Pope Francis, then the holy pointiff drops dead.

Really, there is nothing the Trump admin touches that doesn't make everything sound like an airport bookshop thriller.

Open question.

Will the relevant bar associations have to consider disbarring Pam Bondi and half the remaining attorneys in the DOJ after this mess for blatantly unconstitutional behaviour, contempt of court, and bringing the profession into disrepute?
