You can’t put a minimum income threshold for refugees if you have banned asylum seeking people from working. You can’t expect kids fleeing a warzone to have school level English.

And none of this will “stop the boats.”

You need safe routes.

Honestly, they can’t find anyway to defend this.

A legal permanent resident researching cures for Lyme disease has been detained by immigration officials for over a week.

He has reportedly been denied access to an attorney and his family has not been given a reason for his detention.

We cannot become immune to this cruelty.

Reminder that as a corporate lobbyist, Pam Bondi represented scores of clients facing federal regulatory scrutiny — including Amazon, Uber, and GM.

She also represented the government of Qatar and ICE contractor GEO Group.

"Conflicts of interest" is an understatement.

Good morning, I've written a piece about the prime minister. I spoke to several dozen sources, including government insiders, former legal colleagues and campaigners to ask: what happened to Keir Starmer the heroic human rights lawyer? www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
Starmer v Starmer: why is the former human rights lawyer so cautious about defending human rights?
The long read: Given his career as a human rights barrister, it was hoped Keir Starmer would be the PM to restore the UK’s commitment to international law. The reality tells a different story

LBC suggests it was a serious incident. Robinson is the suspect. The I paper quotes the victim alleging an attack by him. It does not sound like the footage is of the alleged assault, but of the immediate aftermath.

Your Prime Day reminder that half of Amazon warehouse workers struggle with food & housing costs.

A third have had to rely on government assistance like SNAP — which is about to get cut.

If Bezos can spend $50M on a wedding, Amazon can afford to treat its workers with dignity.

It got pretty nasty, but we won by a long way, which is nice.

Rather than continuing to push anti-immigration policies and rhetoric, Labour should be showing why immigration is not only good for the UK, but essential. Pandering to Reform doesn't win Labour support, but cutting immigration will make everyone's life worse, which is hardly a vote winner. #r4today
