I luv Bratfud, me, and love living in Bradford. I’m delighted to share why, even if I am angry about how it’s treated & talked about.

Conservative MP Mel Stride claims PIP benefit is thousands of pounds per month.

No it is an absolute maximum of £720 a month, and most people only get £250 or less.

Meanwhile he claims £1,250 a month in rent on his expenses

56% say Brexit was a mistake.

Only 31% think it was right.

"We used to ring up our GP and get an appointment on the same day," says Kemi Badenoch. She does not add: we're all looking for the guy who did this!

We have built a society in which people of different skin tones, religious backgrounds & cultures get along, share power, work alongside each other, procreate with each other, recognise the each other’s humanity and democratic rights. It is a STUNNING ACHIEVEMENT OF WORLD HISTORIC PROPORTIONS.

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

Annual cost of Eton school fees: £53k

Average UK salary: £35k

Guess which one the right-wing press is more concerned about?

Michael Heseltine tells @europeanmovement.co.uk event that the Farage's Reform and European populist far right parties are “equivalents to the fascists of the thirties” and adds: ”We have to deal with President Trump for the next 3 years. We don't need his mouthpiece anywhere near No.10.” ~AA 🔥

Robert Peston
@Peston
Heseltine has just addressed a packed meeting of the European Movement at Tory conference. He does not show the restraint of most party leaders in his critique of Farage and Reform: “right wing equivalents to the fascists of the thirties are back on the march: Le Pen in France, AfD in Germany, Fdl in Italy, Vox in Spain and conspicuously Reform in this country. Much of President Trump's language in America coincides with words here in Europe. The immigrant has replaced the Jew as the problem which needs a solution although recent events here have cast a dark shadow…We must make clear that we will never have any part in the populist extremism of Nigel Farage. We have to deal with President Trump for the next 3 years. we don't need his mouthpiece anywhere near Number 10.”

Visited Bradford last week for the first time and loved it. Staggering buildings and of course the most glorious Waterstones bookshop..

I love Bradford and up until this year I was an annual visitor to the city (attended the Infest music festival every August). The architecture in Bradford is breathtaking, including Waterstones, and I love the people. Even though Infest is no longer held in Bradford I will try to visit when I can.

Is any journalist at Conservative conference going to ask Robert Jenrick where he got his new "Let's take our country back," slogan from?

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

Jenrick delivers one of the most asinine speeches I have ever heard. He even brought along a prop, to explain how a judge becomes impartial setting aside personal views, then went on to attack judges for having views. His solution? Abolish tribunals. And who will adjudicate cases? Pfft. Details. ~AA

"We know the answers because someone dared to ask 'Why?' "

This really moved me... on why resistance is vital, even when success is not immediate or complete... or comes in the building of further resistance & of future strengths. This is a message of hope we need right now.

And we have even less protection here. Trump can't fire judges who have constitutional protection. A government here could pass a law allowing them to do so with a majority of one in the Commons.

If you can't see how this will end, then you're not paying attention (not least to what's going on on the other side of the Atlantic).
