World-traveling geek in my 50s. Far too much of my luggage is taken up by books and dice. Yes, I also own a Kindle, but sometimes a fella's gotta have books.
Roger Zelazny's "Nine Princes in Amber," and it's not even close.
Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps:

- It’s ‘voilà,’ not ‘wallah!’
- It’s ‘a lot,’ not ‘alot.’
- It’s ‘further ado,’ not ‘farther adieu.’
- It’s ‘flesh out,’ not ‘flush out.’
- It’s ‘sneak peek,’ not ‘sneak peak.’

No worries if not!!!

Happy Public Domain Day to all who celebrate!

Brioche french toast, oven-baked candied bacon, and a half-pot of decaf.

Sometimes a person just needs breakfast-for-dinner at the tail end of a one-week staycation from work to round out the soothing, pleasureable, vibe of it all.

Dude could bellyflop down those 4 stairs and his hair come undone and his girdle snap from the stress, and his supporters would still claim he is the Achilles and the Adonis of presidents.
The 79-year-old president cautiously climbed down the steps at his Mar-a-Lago estate as he welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

I'd like to say that this is a public domain work by a known author that Hollywood won't try to rip off into a movie, but I suppose someone would take that as a dare and ask me to hold their beer.

One day after Christmas, and the local supermarket has stopped playing its Christmas medley but I'm now listening to a muzak version of "Don't go chasing waterfalls". One door closes, another opens, I suppose.

Because, let's be clear, Alito is okay with Shadow Docket Rulings that *increase* the power of this particular president, but not when it goes the other way.
Alito berates SCOTUS colleagues for shadow docket ruling that limits presidential power
"Local police departments have provided insufficient assistance," Justice Samuel Alito rages in dissent. "The protection of federal officers from potentially lethal attacks should not be thwarted."

Explain your username.

So, BDP (pronounced 'BeDeeP' by my late mother, hence the display name) are my initials. And '501' is for the jeans, since my first BBS name back to the late 80s/early 90s was 'Bluejeans'. If you've ever read the old Usenet 'Dead' series, I was that Morgan 'SysOp' Bluejeans.
Explain yer username.

I was on a BBS and got sub-sysop powers for a forum, so if the sysop was god, I was an archangel.

I was around late 15 then and am roughly 40 years older and I've been Archangel Beth the whole time (sometimes ArchBeth on MMOs, or AB when I'm incognito.)
explain your username:

I was on ICQ talking whilst a friend visited, and described myself as Not Quite A Hippie. some few weeks later I needed a username for the LJ I had just bought myself a token for, and I had a crush on @rahaeli.bsky.social, so. NQAH met aeli, and here we fuckin' are.

Let's assume for a moment that we buy the story that the Nasser letter was determined by analysis to be false ... wouldn't the supporting documentation for the research which proved the letter to be false also be part of the files and released accordingly?

Not that we do buy the excuse, mind you.

This entire thread is straight up fire.
Epstein redactions aren't believable, and they are valuable to fascists specifically because they aren't believable.

Fascists prefer lies to truth. Believing in a lie is preferable to believing a truth, if what you want is to dominate.

Believing lies dominates truth. So they believe lies.

Ah, "The Vortex of Discombobulated Shoppers," a little known holiday-themed D&D module, I believe, from the late 1980s set in the Winter Festival markets of The Free City of Greyhawk.

And if it ain't, it should have been.
