I was well over 30 when I wrote and published my first novel, and fully agree with you!
When I turned 30 I had not yet written my first published book or my first published novel and did not know (or know of) some of the most important people in my life. I didn't know how much my life could still change, and did, after the age of 30. There is so much your life still yet to live.
Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

Read Arkady Martine's Rose/House novella today and GOD BOOKS ARE SO COOL. THEY'RE VERY GOOD. It was so good that I immediately hopped on pangobooks to see what kinda physical copy I could buy. (I might wait until the paperback comes out next year cause that cover is GORGEOUS)

Picked up Fair Play by Louise Hegarty last night and finished it this morning and uh. I really wanted to like this book!! it had some really fun metatextual elements but the stream of consciousness chapters simply ruined it for me. could've been really fun, except it just wasn't. 1.5 stars.

All the guys who run media went from shitheads who used to throw elaborate and expensive parties to fill a void inside of them to guys with headlines about them like "Meet The Startup King Who Invented Slavery 2"

first piece of writing advice: other authors are a huge resource of experience you can trust. we’re not in competition with another.

second: all real writers wipe their asses with a heaping handful of large grain Himalayan sea salt

Philip Marlowe opening up The Lady in The Lake talking about how 10 bucks a day plus expenses doesn't buy many fancy groceries these days and man I felt that.

Finished A Desolation Called Peace by Arkady Martine and the whole thing made me feel like a crumpled paper towel (in a great way) but what really made me cry was in the acknowledgements, she called her wife the "center of every star chart" ❤️ lesbians we always win❤️❤️
