Like it’s never really been a better time to be a white guy talking head on the news than now. You can get commissioned by pretty much any major outlet if you portray your concern over woke enough. If anything, the bar lowered!

The thing about that compact article is that woke and DEI or whatever is probably the best thing that’s ever happened to the white male intellectual, who up until the culture wars were basically producing average, lukewarm takes at best

Ian McEwan talked recently about the statistic that the number of people reading for pleasure has dropped by 40% over the last decade. But let's not focus on the negative side and instead try to remember that over the same period the number of people reading for displeasure has almost quadrupled.

Fake AI accounts sending hikers and tourists on dangerous routes and in grave danger.

We have no need for AI. It is lazy and evil.
AI attention farming online isn't just annoying slop, it can be actively dangerous. Luckily the lovely humans behind @walkhighlands.co.uk caught this dangerous 'advice' before it was posted

This sounds like modern slavery to me. I've clients who've been recognised as victims with similar facts. People in authority shouldn't be afraid to make this connection and it will push back on the government's narrative that these people are somehow scamming the system.

This is a huge part of why so many people think we're in the middle of a widespread "anti-woke backlash": Small movements opposed to social progress are collected into trend stories by conservative media. Far larger movements that want more diversity are ignored or cast as threats.
"Woke is ruining D&D". Meanwhile Dimension 20, one of the wokest real play shows around, just sold out Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl for live shows and brings armies of new players to RPGs.

Huge respect to the papers for finding both an 88 year old worried about the tax bill on her 6 bedroom Kensington house and a 20 year old fretting about only being able to save £12k a year tax free.
Top work all around. These are not easy case studies to find.

But recognises this also means homeowners who always thought of themselves as well off, recognise that actually 'being asset rich' means nothing, and to also recognise what happens when you exist in an economy where houses are seen as assets first, and then places people live in

One of the big issues of our time is seeing 'young people cant afford homes' and 'homeowners cant afford to be taxed more' as two separate problems, rather than the inevitable consequence of an economy built around inflated house prices to placate landlords
Some sympathy for this potentially made up woman but I wonder how the poster feels about the numerous people who would love to be able to call a house their own and form relationships with their neighbours but can't because of the housing market. Does their emotional plea count for anything?
Mumsnet is already on the case.

James Bond supervillains threaten to blow up the world with their big laser unless you pay them a trillion dollars.

Real American supervillains embed themselves in the economy and threaten to cause a depression unless you subsidize their sex robots and the weird chatbots they use to avoid humans.

Ironic that this government was elected with a landslide majority on a one word slogan of "change". Given how worried it is that delivering anything even close to that label would upset too many people.

To build off earlier posts: confirmed sighting of the 11/11 aurora now as far south as El Salvador. Picture from their Pacific coast attached below in thread, one of my own photos on this first post.

But why were these northern lights seen in here and not Africa or Hawaii?
