Another piece of sh!te cycling infrastructure the @infrastructure-ni.gov.uk dreamed up. Comes in handy as a parking spot though. 👏🏻 #poordesign #zeroenforcement #illonlybeaminute #belfast #activetravel #climateaction @greenpartyni.org @sdlp.bsky.social @belfastcyclecam.bsky.social

Bus lanes - in the absence of cycling infrastructure - have a purpose. But here we are on Ormeau during bus lane operational times…cyclist being forced out. Get in the sea @infrastructure-ni.gov.uk @belfastcyclecam.bsky.social #activetravel #climateaction

This is some of the most cost-effective infrastructure out there.

The investment is minimal, the returns are huge.

What is stopping us?

In 2017, Gdańsk installed some planter boxes, wooden furniture and bike racks on Grobla IV, and—with the revolutionary act of curbing traffic—created its first “school street”. It is now a vibrant public space used by residents of all ages at all hours of the day. Total cost to the taxpayer: €6,000.

"Bike lanes restrict road space. Bike lanes have turned streets into parking lots, with residents unable to shop, get kids to events, and seriously impact emergency services & Wheel-Trans."

Actually, no. 100% wrong. Car dependency & too much driving with increasingly large vehicles does all that.
Bikeway construction on The Esplanade draws community controversy | CBC News
Some downtown residents say they are opposed to a bikeway on The Esplanade but the city of Toronto says more than half of respondents it consulted four years ago said they supported the project.

How many cigarettes worth of air pollution are kids breathing in during school drop off and pick up? School streets should be car-free.

If your city can afford to build roads everywhere, it can afford to build cycle networks too. It’s not about money — it’s about priorities. It’s a political choice

Ill be joining Wildflower Alley to showcase the murals commissioned for their 10th Anniversary. Come and see the Urban Art truck, which was designed to bring art to small green spaces such as alleys via ebike. 😀

This is what I find time and time again on the bike.

You make connections. You feel part of the city. It changes your relationship with where you live.

Throw back to last year when I was cycling through Amsterdam and a gang of 5-year-olds ambushed me with high fives - you don’t get moments like that when everyone’s in a car! When cities are built for people, people connect.

Studies everywhere have shown that pedestrianizing business districts doesn't mean the death of businesses - in fact, it's the exact opposite
brenttoderian.bsky.social
One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen, was filled with cars until a 2 year pedestrianization pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued “no cars means no business,” but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street.
