A new low by the Telegraph, and the Minister for Defence who made the claim. Not only are we talking about Afghans who worked with British Forces for the most part, immediately putting a target on their backs, but the data leak alone ensures they need to be provided with asylum to protect them.

the stories that come out of the ICE camps are going to look like the stories that come out of every camp system; rampant corruption, epidemic disease, physical and sexual abuse on a vast scale, a death rate far higher than normal, and medical abuses.

it's also incredibly telling that all of the reporters who worked on the zohran article are white

have none of these people like @danarubinsteinbsky.bsky.social ever realized that there's a huge fucking diaspora of South Asians in Africa? or are they too ignorant of history?

This is one of the absolutely most interesting threads I’ve ever encountered on social media. Yes it about Mamdani but so much more
My mom and stepdad are from the same diaspora group as Zohran Mamdani’s dad (same like “my stepdad was kicked out of the same town and knows some of his classmates”) and apparently the New York Times doesn’t understand how diaspora works, so I am going to tell you a little about my mom’s people!

Just a reminder that while her ex nonstop soils himself in public with tasteless displays of wealth and look-at-me, thirsty nonsense, Mackenzie Scott has given away close to $20 billion to 1,600 charities, no strings attached and without any need for recognition.

A former minister told the BBC it is easy to ‘game’ the PIP form based on knowing what to fill in

This is untrue.

PIP forms are not only notoriously difficult to fill in but require huge swaths of evidence - and even then many people don’t get what they are due until tribunal.

The fact the Tories are saying they could back the Welfare Bill says it all. I will not be voting for this terrible bill which would have a devastating impact on so many. The Government must rethink.

There are other bits of the white paper that might help people back into work and are quite sensible.

But PIP is what people are upset about and that's not about work but who needs additional support regardless of employment status.

One reason the revolt on disability benefits is looking so substantial is the line being used to defend it lacks any integrity.

To claim that the purpose of cutting PIP - a non-means tested benefit - is to help people back into work requires saying something untrue.

Brilliant. Martin Lewis destroying the defence minister on Good Morning Britain. ‘Minister can I interrupt you. You keep talking about getting people into work… but PIP is not an out-of-work benefit. I don’t know why you keep talking about getting people back to work’. #TakingThePIP

My friend is epileptic, he is barred from driving and his well paid and valuable Civil Service job often has unsociable hours.

He uses his PIP to subsidise taxis so he can still work.

The second point here about sustainability is at least arguable. But PIP does not trap people. In many cases it allows them to work. It's just totally disingenous.
NEW: PM not backing down on welfare reforms despite growing rebellion - tells me on the plane to The Hague for NATO summit he will “press ahead” and said those who care about the welfare system need to ask themselves what is sustainable in the future. Full quotes 👇🏻

Yes – so stop these awful #PIP cuts then – as many dedicated carers will lose their Carer's Allowance as a result of these immoral cuts.

Private Eye has found that that 281,000 PIP claimants *already in paid work* stand to lose out under the proposed cuts (i.e the four-point rule)

That's 55% of all PIP claimants in paid work, according to the article

(not my article but I want to flag it)
