Not a subscriber, so I can't read this. But I'd be pretty surprised if Madison and Marshall said the president should declare a fake drug emergency to unilaterally impose tariffs, then leverage those tariffs to bully other countries for personal grudges and pressure prize committees to honor him.

Most of this laundry list of "overwhelming evidence" is tendentious. Let's go through them.
1) A big driver of high costs at public universities has been a decrease in state appropriations. Many public schools have been forced to act on a public/private model as a result..../1
The evidence is overwhelming: outrageous costs and prolonged indebtedness for students; poor outcomes, with too many students left unable to find meaningful work after graduating; some talented domestic students and scholars have been crowded out of enrollment and employment opportunities by international students; and a high degree of uniformity of thought among faculty members and administrators, which can result in a hostile environment for students with different ideas.

Two of the three people mentioned in the top headline are right-wing pollsters. I was in middle school chorus with one of them. We wore cummerbunds.

Opposing fascism is a basic obligation in a free society (and even unfree societies can oppose fascism).

Labelling opposition to fascism "terrorism" is a clear marker of where you stand.

And as the article says, letting this frame stand means giving up effective tools to oppose rising fascism.

“The truth is that antifa groups have been responsible for some of the most prescient & impactful organizing countering the far-right during the last decade”

What Liberals Get Wrong About Trump’s Executive Order on Antifa
Liberals dismiss antifa as just an idea. That opens up the activists, researchers, and organizers to a real risk of persecution.

Peter Thiel is such a devoutly unhinged liar that mentally or morally normal human beings have real trouble grasping that he never, ever means a single thing he says, so it's helpful when he throws in one that's so blatant as to give the whole game away www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...
Screenshot of text:

Thiel had kinder words about Tesla CEO Elon Musk, according to the recordings, calling the entrepreneur, who has recently praised Christianity, one of the “smarter, more thoughtful people,” he knows.

Great point here. This is why Stephen Miller goes on Fox News to propagandize. He knows his host won't bother him with niggling facts like these.
reichlinmelnick.bsky.social
HA! How much is Stephen Miller a propagandist? He’s saying the building in Chicago raided by DHS, where children were zip-tied and citizens dragged out, was “full of Tren de Aragua terrorists.”

Even DHS’s own account claims just TWO gang members total — and even that is a highly suspect claim!
gregsargent.bsky.social
Stephen Miller just said that Chicago ICE raid was one of the most successful law enforcement operations ever. I asked Pritzker to respond.

"If this was Pinochet’s Chile, if this was Argentina under authoritarian rule, maybe you’d call it successful," he said. 2/

Any news organization that treated "Will Trump Get Nobel?" as a remotely serious question, and not one more indication of his accelerating hallucinatory patterns, has some 'splaining to do.

Looking at you, all major news orgs.

BARTIROMO: On your point about the Nobel Peace Prize, do you think maybe the reason Trump won't get it is because you had to get the application in before Jan. 31, and that was only 11 days into his term?

SCALISE: Look, they can play technicalities. They gave it to Obama for just getting elected.

All of this is objectively true. Stopping cancer treatment alone should’ve sent people into the streets. The USAID pullback is global murder. Just because a bunch of stupid Americans debase themselves fawning over a senile fascist doesn’t mean the rest of the world has to play along.

Trump has done more to harm peace and human progress than anyone else this century. He's demonised the world's most vulnerable people, undermined global law & order, waged war on science & medicine and is dismantling his own democracy.

He's in 8,249,937,355th place to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Why should Fox Business care about Trump winning the Nobel Peace Prize? No reason except that Trump wants it and the Fox anchor is deeply committed to him. That’s it.

The right’s Nobel obsession is useful because it is inexplicable as anything other than trying to make Trump personally happy. 95% of all Trumpworld obsessions have the same root (2020 election, James/Comey) but rarely is it so hard to retcon a justification for it.

It was a glaring departure even in the moment. Right or wrong, the story of Biden's political career was generally to place himself in the center of wherever the party was moving ideologically. But on I/P, his own worldview was so rigid that he stubbornly stayed the course as the party moved away
ericmgarcia.bsky.social
We talk a lot about AIPAC and “the Israel lobby” but when it came to Israel, Biden had a genuine ideological commitment to the “hug Bibi” strategy even as others in his party didn’t like it.

This week has confirmed my suspicion that Biden’s Middle East policies will look worse, and will be even more embarrassing for Democrats, with the passage of time.

9th Circuit just made anti-SLAPP laws (like the good ones in California and Nevada) a lot less effective. This is going to lead to a ton of suppressed speech. Stupid and dangerous. Especially now.

We need a federal anti-SLAPP law now. And we won't get one.
