Linked to this yesterday, but I am re-upping today because this is the best piece of practical research I have seen lately. It deals with what's gone wrong in political coverage.
"If we want different results, we have to abandon standard practice."

YES.

Finally, someone put together what I and many other critics have been saying about political coverage — then took it further. reutersinstitute.politics.ox.ac.uk/harm-reducti...

This horrifying. Every MSM outlet that continues on X should confronted with the conduct of this disgraceful owner who they legitimize with their presence.
Elon sharing the name of 66 random not-famous people to his many millions of followers because this person said they said things she didn’t like about Charlie Kirk.

I erased the names and employers from the screenshot but you can see their jobs. Nurses, teachers etc.

Margaret Sullivan writes today about news headlines "that deliver a soft-focus, missing-the-point, safe-as-milk version of national politics." She cites a 2023 piece I wrote when I was just starting my Stop the Presses newsletter, headlined: "The New York Times Has a Serious Headline Problem."
'I fixed that for you': Why mainstream headlines keep failing

A Nazi owns Twitter, right wing billionaires own the Wall Street Journal and the LA Times, and CBS is run by a right wing nepo baby who just fired one of the network’s biggest stars for criticizing Donald Trump. Here’s why America has a left-wing media bias problem.

An overview of where we are with this troublesome term, given that the next generation mostly sees through it. No jargon and no paywall. Thus good for regular folk. (Fair warning: I am quoted.)
