One of the things we need to be better at on the left is showing compassion for people who are displaying these signs of trauma, recognising they are less responsible for them, but without excusing the resulting behaviours, especially where those behaviours can be harmful or dangerous to others.

One of the things about trauma and PTSD that they can make people significantly more prone to irrational and erratic behaviours and thought patterns. This can include conspiratorialism, emotional dysregulation, and combativeness. We're not very good at compartmentalising this stuff about people.
