this is maybe trite at this point but it is in your interest to find ways to create things. basically everyone wants you to be consuming nonstop. making stuff, from cooking to photography or whatever, can help you feel more in control. doesn’t even have to be something you share with other people

I have thoughts on this and I think it’s partly the fact that we’ve turned fic into another form of consumerism. Folks act like it’s the publishing industry, expecting perfection, timely updates, their money’s worth even though they haven’t spent a dime. +
I think about this Tumblr post a lot. Everyone who posts their writing should try channeling the energy of King Big Dick of Fanfic Mountain

I don't think we talk enough about the effect of art on us. I can see one drawing I really really like and I'll be happy for the rest of the day I'm not exaggerating. Your art makes someone feel that way. Your art makes someone happy. Your art helps someone get through the day.
