They‘re the Smartphone Generation. Not digital natives. They grew up with closed operating systems that don‘t require or even allow much customization beyond cosmetics, with cloud data and streaming.
If I hear one more person refer to Gen Z or Gen Alpha as digital natives when the students do not know:

1. How to use built-in Word functions like outlining and spellchecker
2. The different types of basic files
3. Interoperability
4. The issues related to uploading

You know you can always judge a book by its cover. Look at this nice book about bears.

there’s a trans woman on ‘only connect’ and graham linehan is hassling victoria coren over it.

i like how he thinks he can out-fox a three time world poker champion by laying down a dipshit ultimatum and then saying ‘a simple yes or no will suffice’ like the dumbass debate-me-bro he’s become.

Today in “AI is a scourge”: I’m in an embroidery group on Facebook, and it feels like every day brings a new person who says “I bought this pattern on Etsy but it didn’t come with instructions and I don’t understand how they got this effect”

Ciabatta bread was invented in the 80s, while Fast Food was the standard in Rome 2000 years ago, and Egypt had Fishnet Bodycon dresses 2000 years before that.
every “ancient tradition” was invented between 1848-1870 and every “modern perversion” is so ancient as to predate writing

I'm reading a poem written in the 1820s in support of homosexual love, possibly by William Beckford. On the one hand this is a remarkable read. However, in a passage about the narrator fancying a serving-boy, the poet asks "Why for a menial did my entrails warm?" and I may never write romance again.
