Just finished Braiding Sweetgrass this morning, after working my way through it the last 6 months or so. I’m about to start Sand County Almanac, just before my trip back home to Wisconsin. I’m excited to start my conversations with that book 💗

Candy-striped Leafhoppers (Graphocephala coccinea) are expert jumpers that can leap 40x their own body length. But I’m mostly taken in by their dapper striped coats.

Native to North America.

These two pictures are of the same thing – just arranged differently.

The Beehive Cluster (with nearby, nearly Full Moon moonbeams). Six-hundred-ten light years away.

A Longhorn Bee ~ Melissodes genus (sleeping in a sunflower). Four inches away.
