This was the 26th dedicated ICE air deportation flight to operate out of Minneapolis-St. Paul International since January 1, 2026.

We estimate they've deported 1,830 people on these flights - just over 100 per day, on average, so far this month.

Yes, immigration agents not only took Arnoldo's phone, the 10th grader had to use Find My Phone to locate it — in a vending machine for used electronics, close to an ICE detention center.

A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Emily Heller lives near 33rd and Portland and said she woke up to a commotion outside her home. She said she saw a car blocking traffic on Portland Avenue that appeared to be part of a protest against federal law enforcement operations. Heller said she heard ICE agents telling the driver, a woman, to “get out of here.” “She was trying to turn around, and the ICE agent was in front of her car, and he pulled out a gun and put it right in — like, his midriff was on her bumper — and he reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times,” Heller said. Heller said it appeared the woman then accelerated and traveled about 100 feet before striking a utility pole and some other vehicles. She could be seen slumped over inside her car.

I don’t know if Maduro is good or bad, not even if he’s a drug trafficker; in the files of the Colombian justice system, after half a century of dealing with the biggest cocaine mafias, the names of Nicolás Maduro or Cilia Flores don’t appear. Those who have come forward to denounce him are Venezuelan opposition generals, nothing more, seeking to topple the popular vote. The judicial power in Colombia doesn’t belong to me; it’s independent of me, and my opposition largely handles it. If one wants to know about the mafia and the business of cocaine commercialization, just look at Colombia’s judicial files. That’s why I deeply reject Trump speaking without knowing; my name doesn’t appear in the judicial files on drug trafficking over 50 years, neither from before nor from the present. Stop slandering me, Mr. Trump. That’s not how you threaten a Latin American president who emerged from the armed struggle and then from the people of Colombia’s fight for Peace. I was part of the clandestine organization that fought for democracy in Colombia against the civil dictatorship of the "State of Emergency." The organization that in 1974, long before Chávez, carried out the operation to raise Bolívar’s sword once more, who said he would never sheathe it until injustice ended in Gran Colombia. I was with the M19 that made the first peace in contemporary Latin America. He doesn’t read Colombia’s history, and that’s why he fails when he criticizes us. He should only meet with his officers who are experts in drug investigations in Colombia, whom I’ve helped with my own investigations as a senator of the Republic from Colombia’s Left and its people, who have suffered the narco genocide and its political allies, who are also allies of the American far right. Tens of thousands of our comrades from the armed and popular struggle for democracy were assassinated, and we didn’t go begging you for invasions; we endured and won through Peace. I’ve never burned a U.S. flag because I’ve read the history of the popular and workers’ struggles in the U.S. through Zinn’s books in Spanish. And that’s why I honor the American working people, the Black and Indigenous people, the young soldiers who, alongside the Soviets, defeated Hitler. And that’s why I dared to speak on a street in New York in front of the United Nations building and under U.S. law that protects the opinions of those attending the United Nations Assembly to speak freely. I spoke against the genocide in Gaza—how I would have loved to accompany you to make peace in Gaza! Where the Palestinians love me, and perhaps if instead of going to capture a Latin American president with small controls on oil because you blocked the oil and condemned us to hunger and unleashed the exodus that reached your own country, I would have accompanied you to capture Netanyahu, the genocidaire. For what I said, you took the arrogance to punish my opinion, my words against the Palestinian genocide. Your punishment is to falsely accuse me of being a drug trafficker and having cocaine factories; I don’t have a car, nor estates abroad—my house I’m still paying off to the bank with my salary. Dear Princeton University Press Editorial Team, I am writing to request a correction to In Covid's Wake: How Our Politics Failed Us by Stephen Macedo and Frances Lee. The book contains a significant misquotation that inverts the meaning of my published work. In 2023, I published an article for the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University titled "Getting the Facts Straight: Some Observations on the Fifth Circuit Ruling in Missouri v. Biden." In that piece, I directly refuted false claims about government jawboning of social media platforms. One claim I specifically pushed back against was the myth that the FBI demanded Twitter censor online speech. And yet, I was recently surprised to find that In Covid's Wake quotes me as stating that "the FBI went beyond strategic information sharing and made direct moderation demands" — the exact claim I was refuting, presented as though I endorsed it. The book uses my refutation of a false narrative to support that very narrative, employing my name, former position, and scholarly writing to buttress the authors' argument at the expense of the integrity of my own views. This is not a case of authors disagreeing with my interpretation or selectively quoting from a nuanced argument. The book attributes to me a position that is the precise opposite of what I argued. The passage the authors quote is a section heading that introduces my refutation of that claim, not an endorsement of it. The misrepresentation is particularly harmful because it lends Princeton University Press's credibility to demonstrably false claims about government censorship. My article exists specifically to establish what actually happened versus what conspiracy theories allege. By quote-mining a section heading and divorcing it from the argument that follows, the book weaponizes my attempt to establish facts against the truth itself. I request that the authors and Princeton University Press: Issue a formal correction acknowledging the misquotation Revise the relevant passage in future editions to accurately represent my argument Post an erratum on the book's webpage I recognize that scholarly interpretation involves judgment calls about sources. However, quoting someone's statement of a position they are about to refute as though they endorse that position is not interpretation — it is dishonest, misleading, and a self-evident factual error. This is not a matter of academic disagreement but of basic accuracy in representing published work. In late 2020 a Chinese man called Guan Heng travelled to Xinjiang with our BuzzFeed map of detention facilities to provide ground truth for our work - he provided the first corroborating evidence for many sites.

He escaped to the US - then ICE detained him.

The hero of Bondi: Ahmed el Ahmed, a 43 year old fruit shop owner from Sutherland. He grabbed the gun off one of the terrorists shooting at Jews during a Hanukkah celebration.

Ahmed was then shot in the leg and shoulder by another terrorist. He’s being treated in the hospital and expected to be OK.
