Look at that hydrograph! This is from a USGS monitoring well in Christiansburg, Montgomery County, VA. Observation well 27F2 SOW 019 is 450' deep, completed in carbonate rocks of the Elbrook Formation and well known for its response to quakes.

“Poor soil” is generous. I believe there’s like 200’ of wetland muck before you get to anything solid. If memory serves, even the pedestrian bridge over the tracks there is sitting on like 200’ pilings. Also, shallow groundwater and lots of contamination in the vicinity.

I’m just really disappointed that our governor took a look at all the terrible things happening around us right now and thought that what he really wanted to spend the state’s $ and civil servants’ time and energy on was forcing them all to work in expensive office buildings against their will.

This thread and the comments 👇 We need to build a world where we take care of each other and have absolutely no tolerance for an abusive system or leaders. It might take some a little longer to figure that out. Those of us who have need to keep building and be here for others when they’re ready.
If there's one thing that domestic violence research has taught me, it's that abusers set up no-win scenarios. They punish you whether you cooperate with them or whether you push back.
The only way out is to strengthen ties with people outside of the relationship who can create new, better options.
