The existence of even one Catholic convert dismantles the central lie of religion, that it is an innate characteristic from birth and therefore should have human rights awarded to it.

See I can make bullshit, nonsense arguments too, Heritage Foundation.

“The existence of even one ex gay dismantles the central lie of homosexuality, that it is an innate characteristic from birth and therefore should have human rights awarded to it.”

Same shit different era.
Chloe Cole: The existence of even one detransitioner dismantles the central lie of transgenderism, that it is an innate characteristic from birth and therefore should have human rights awarded to it.

Collective survival and liberation also means collective struggle. And yes, it means everyone who gives a damn has some basic collective duties to do certain things and not indulge in others.

That's also the reality, and it's the only way we — on any scale that matters — win against these evils.

"Every trans person who doesn't leave the country has no hope and neither does their resistance" buys into assumptions about the state's invincibility and the weakness of trans communities that are not just false but actively damaging.

Sadly, I'm seeing it a lot more lately. So, this thread...

Again, focusing on individuals staying or going misses the point.

What does become a real problem is when the issue gets framed (usually by more gentry expats or those who follow them) as "everyone who stays is doomed."

That is false and it is genuinely, unacceptably damaging.

Vast, vast majority of trans people aren't going to leave the country. Many can't leave the areas they're currently in.

If trans survival/liberation are something one cares about, at all, that's the reality.

So...🧵

(And no, this is not — in the main — about indviduals leaving the country).

Really good thread, because I am frankly tired of "why haven't you left yet" etc.

This labeler will be shutting down. We will first be unlabeling everyone who is labeled and then will cease to operate. As the unlabeling operation will take an unknown amount of time, we are not setting a specific timeline other than as soon as possible.

Having had a concussion bonk, you can change the color settings so it's more yellow, less blue, and that helps with staying on the phone/computer without bad brain feelings.
It won't hurt and it might help. I hope you feel better soon!

Just as much as Link was a part of this community- so has Sakher been. Bluesky mods are awful.

Sakher’s account was shut down — the only place where he spoke to the world about his pain and his suffering.

That account was his only voice, his way to survive and keep going.

Today, Sakher lost his last connection to the world.💔

Discworld QOTD, from Snuff
Aristocrats don't notice philosophical conundra. They just ignore them. Philosophy includes contemplating the possibility that you might be wrong, sir, and a real aristocrat knows that he is always right. It's not vanity, you understand, it's built-in absolute certainty. They may sometimes be as mad as a hatful of spoons, but they are always definitely and certainly mad.

Tiffany was on the whole quite a truthful person, but it seemed to her that there were times when things didn’t divide easily into ‘true’ and ‘false’, but instead could be ‘things that people needed to know at the moment’ and ‘things that they didn’t need to know at the moment’.

A person is not guilty just because they are detained or arrested. A person is not guilty just because they are charged or incarcerated awaiting trial. A person is not guilty until the government proves they are. Full fucking stop.

As soon as we start accepting "proving innocence" into our vernacular, we start normalizing really insidious and dangerous shit, especially now when that is the language being used by this administration to racially profile people.

An accused Defendant does not have to prove ANYTHING. If I present zero evidence at trial, and the state has not proved its case, my client walks.

*EVERY* ACCUSED DEFENDANT *IS* INNOCENT UNTIL PROVED OTHERWISE.

I see a lot of people saying that a person charged with a crime deserves the chance to prove their innocence.

Please stop doing this because you have it backwards and this is really important.

It is ALWAYS the government's burden to prove a person guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Yep. What they *always* mean is "I don't think your life is important enough to care about, and I don't like being confronted with that fact, so I'm gonna make it sound like *your* problem"

At this point im starting to wonder if hearing the words “purity test” are a dogwhistle because the most shit opinions in the universe will almost always immediately follow it

If you are willing to throw away entire groups of people to protect your insular strategy that will only protect you instead of protecting everyone then I don’t want your leaders and I sure as hell don’t want to be associated with you.
talleststone.bsky.social
I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

I really hope folks give this a read. There's also an audio version linked in the piece. I firmly believe that we must learn from the Black trans folks who came before us in order to survive what is already here and what is coming next.
