Today saw a landmark announcement from the UK Govt that it will end exploration for new oil & gas fields. 🛢️

People power has forced them to make this happen and it makes clear that we are on the path to ending fossil fuels. ✊

Until we treat animal agriculture with the same scrutiny we do oil, transportation and manufacturing, our climate coverage will remain half-told. My latest for @thestar.com, featuring analysis by @sentientmedia.org: www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
One major contributor to climate change is being under-reported
I can’t help wonder how much longer the media can tiptoe around the cow in the room; because until we treat animal agriculture with the same scrutiny we do oil,

Yikes, well this is a huge bummer! I used to use the Facility for Weather and Climate Assessments (FACTS) repository quite a lot for large ensemble and AMIP data download and processing.

More about this: "A Community Resource for Assessing Weather and Climate Variability" (doi.org/10.1175/BAMS...)
this can't be good right?

⁉️ Many climate policies are based on capturing carbon in monoculture plantations, which is very detrimental to our essential forest ecosystems.

Media execs have fallen prey to a propaganda and harassment campaign that has completely divorced them from what people actually want right now.

Both their insular information environments (group chats, podcasts) and ambient noise (Twitter reactionaries) have put them in a very stupid bubble.
currently at record-high search interest for canceling disney plus. pulling kimmel is a bigger deal to the company's bottom line than any of the "woke" scandals of the past 5 years. i think news & entertainment corp execs need put more work into understanding their audience, & get off twitter
