Outside Gracie Mansion. This is his job. But dare I day it he seems genuinely affected and happy to be there. There’s potentially immense power in that.

since we're doing USPS discourse again, a reminder of what Dems should be saying
"the USPS is a miracle. it's in the constitution. for the price of a single stamp you can send a letter across the country, from Hawaii to Maine. Trump is trying to take that away from you. He's attacking Christmas cards and wedding invitations. It's un-American and it has to stop."

“Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendía was to remember that distant afternoon when Zohran Mamdani took him to protest ICE.”
the mind of someone who considers Mamdani to be more of a threat to NYC than Trump to DC. what a fascinatingly brain-cooked person.

Very good column this - ultimately we should view the past with considerable horror. It wasn’t better, we should not wish to return to it. It was a bleak, scary place.
I wrote this about the genius of Barry Lyndon, my all-time favourite film which is unique among historical dramas for really getting the strangeness and distance of the past

We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent.

Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.
Attacks on Muslims flood mainstream after Mamdani win
