My mate came over from Barcelona. We were stood waiting for Merseyrail... 22 minutes til the next train...

I asked him how often the metro trains were in Barca, and he had no idea. It had never occurred to him. It was just always 'a few minutes'...
In cities where there isn’t likely to be investment available for badly needed service improvements AND free fares (sadly, that’s MOST cities), I strongly prefer strategic ridership-focused SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS, along with reasonable fares (and free fares for under 18, over 60, and low income). 3/

Always wondered why/how so many bikes end up in the canals. Do they get thrown in or do people fall in? Are bikes so cheaply available people don't take much care of theirs? Are they mostly rental bikes so people don't feel like they need to look after them?
Each year, thousands of bikes are fished out of the Amsterdam canals.

This is important to keep them clean and clear for boat traffic. After they are recovered, the bikes are restored or recyled for further use.

Fab #KidicalMass today in Bath! Loads of smiles and waves from people seeing us 😍

Bubbles and steam train were a huge hit (yes, there was a bike dressed up as a steam train). Well done to the ones with little legs cycling up the hills 🙌

What do we want: SAFER STREETS!
When do we want them: NOW!

Absolutely incredible reasoning from Brighton & Hove Council / Trevor Muten behind removing the Balfour Road #SchoolStreet: "Too many people are ignoring the safety rules so we're removing the safety rules"??

Cycled along the new Preston Road cycle lane today, extremely pleasant and way better than what was there before!
We can hardly wait for the first part of the new active travel scheme to be finished and open. It's short but sweet and will make walking, wheeling and cycling along the A23 Preston Rd so much safer.

The lesson from New York is that no amount of density and transit access will prevent a small but vocal segment of the population from being complete babies about congestion pricing.

So just do it anyway! Your city will be better for it.

Popped into town, dropped supplies at the gallery, collected the post, did a bit of shopping, dropped off at the post office, did a local picture delivery. Free parking everywhere, no traffic problems and home in no time. Bikes are amazing.

They are already "failing". Cars lined up parked on pavements/double yellows, double parking, blocking driveways, commercial vehicles taking shortcuts...

Another useless sentence that lets a killer driver keep driving.
Being on the wrong side of the road before a bend you can't see around isn't careless it is downright dangerous.

In Santiago, Chile, there's a group called Biciminga (not yet on Bluesky) that helps people move from one home to another for free, using bikes. The name comes from the minga, a tradition from Chiloé where communities literally move a house from one place to another, originally using oxen.

Who's up to critique and help v2.0 submission of #CargoBikeEmoji in April 2025 to Unicode?

Need a small team on the document, DM if keen.

Will put out a call for emoji designs, judged by a panel of cargo bike experts from around the world.

🚲📦 doesn't quite do.

Absolutely insane driver behaviour happening in Brighton & Hove
Head at West Hove Infants was punched by a parent after directly challenging them parking on the zig-zags outiside the school. She stuck to emails after that.
