I don't really care to look back at my year of gaming but this one is important to me. I make an effort to play a lot of demos and try to find new and interesting stuff.

This was a banger too. With a deckbuilder game you can have a big sprawling one that has replay value or something that's more controlled and authorial, and DEATH HOWL (2025) is more of the second kind.

I've just finished UNBEATABLE and loved it. It's a messy cut mix of adventure and rhythm game which could use a bunch more polish, but it's something that reaches deep and brings out something truly beautiful.
UNBEATABLE (2025) - it's a little rough around the edges so far (some minor UI and animation bugs mostly) but when the tension ramps up and the song starts, all the minor quibbles fall away and you just get lost in this incredible rhythm action sequence with great music. Very very cool.

I don't put a lot of stock in The Game Awards but Blue Prince should have got something IMO.

It's Trans Day of Remembrance. I watched Paris Is Burning last week. Been thinking about how trans people exist everywhere and have always been part of my life in little ways - making art I love, contributing to science, or just being a friend. Trans liberation now and forever

Played through what's available so far for Black Mesa: Blue Shift. I don't remember the original Blue Shift well so I can't speak for how faithful this remake is and it's not the complete campaign available yet, but what is available so far (a few hours at least) is incredibly good. Must play

I'm not good at remembering to take screenshots in games but I have to talk about the newly-released Ambrosia Sky (act 1) from @softrains.bsky.social

Comparable to CTRL ALT EGO by @mindthunk.bsky.social it's going in a less traditional direction to build an immersive sim and I love it so far.

Considering the US's current political trajectory I think it's an act of self preservation to evacuate and demolish pine gap, but our federal government can't even be bothered to stop arming israel so chances aren't great that we'd have the stones to cut ties with the americans
The US should not be allowed to make Australia complicit in nuclear war. 50 years ago Whitlam believed that and he was right.

It’s time to end AUKUS. Close Pine Gap.

It's against the TOS on this website for me to describe what I think is the rational and politically effective response to the situation in Chicago. There's no reason to assume that this will be isolated or will not get worse. Action is needed but I'm not allowed to say what action exactly.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

People like this know they're lying. It's not a mistake to be incorrect in this way, he's doing this on purpose because he's an evil person who wants bad things for everyone. His other posts include downplaying of ascendant american fascism, because he thinks he will gain from it.
I guess here on Bluesky it's controversial to note that the Democrats, once the majority across this country, were reduced to national minority (in stages, from 1968, to 1980, to 2016) by moving left.
But if you'd rather think I'm just making Trump's point...well, whatever helps you cope.
I'm questioning this statement, "the left started to lose the public (who to this day don't see Reagan the same way they do.)"
Who is this *public* you speak of? Wouldn't the left be a subset of it?
This feels like the current Trump regime's feelings that Democrats aren't real Americans.

I watched Speed Racer (2008) by @lillywachowski.bsky.social (and many others ofc) and this film is absolutely insane. So many wild scene transitions, it's surprisingly rare for a regular cut from one shot to another. Surprisingly large number of car-mounted catapults launching animals as weapons

Isn't the threat of withholding support unless your candidate addresses your policy concerns like, literally the entire point of voting? There's also a difference between someone saying they will boycott an election and actually boycotting the election.
I cannot believe there are still people in my mentions arguing that boycotting an election because the candidates aren’t addressing your issue is a way to get them to pay attention.

The most charitable thing I can say about people writing dumbshit fuckhead articles like this one is that maybe they've bought into the branding of "LLM = AI" and like to reference popular media about the subject, but this garbage reads like advertisement copy. Shameful from Guardian, not surprising

Animals are defined by what they don't do as much as what they do. Same with actors and artists. Making them do stuff they didn't actually do isn't creative, its destructive. Its destroying what they are and replacing it with something else

Lots of good (and awful) opinions in the quote tweets, here's 5 games I think are really good art, and cannot be replicated properly in other media:
The Talos Principle
The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood
Pathologic 2
Rain World
Receiver 2
(honest question) what are the “good” video games? artistically i mean, not in a “i enjoyed this escapist slop” kind of way
Well. It's not Red Dead Redemption 2, but it's like one of three video games I'd genuinely consider good.
