I'm worried about how terrible the economy is going to be over the next few years. Worse than it's been.

importantly not saying we’re faultless or that there are no conversations that need to take place—only that we’re being misrepresented and people for some reason love that narrative.

still seeing a lot of that extremely typical thing where, during this administration, people fixate on the pockets of conservatives among asian americans without referencing any real data so it feels important to keep pointing out how wildly unpopular trump’s policies are among us

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

I was at a mindfulness retreat yrs ago among the redwoods in CA. I was closed off at first, but after the 1st session, I stepped out and could smell the trees. Later that night I realized I hadn't looked up all day. This is what I saw.

(A reminder to breathe if you are having a difficult holiday.)

This is why fascists oppose gender-affirming care.
Gender-affirming care saves lives
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.

The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

I used to have a tradition of making containers of chap chae for friends and neighbors during the holidays. I think I want to start that tradition again. (I have a non-Korean friend who loves chap chae...).

I have the sweet potato noodles...just need all the other ingredients, lol...

That’s the condition here in Los Angeles, abductions are still happening daily. @lataco.bsky.social has been reporting 6 days a week, basically listing all the abductions they know about

It’s horrific but an invaluable resource. Especially because Los Angeles is so geographically huge

Since Bovino left it seems every day or every other day I hear of someone abducted by ICE agents. It’s slower, less flashy, but still happening.
“Rey Wences, senior director of deportation defense at the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, noted that “abductions” continue happening “every day in both the city and the suburbs.”

"Tyranny requires constant effort."
Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

Morning soundtrack.

Grew up on his music, and was lucky enough to see him live in the late 80s in Berkeley. I've rarely seen a performer bring so much energy to the stage, and he left it all there.

What a loss.

Happy World Walrus Day! The English word walrus probably comes from Dutch and means “whale horse.” The Albanian name for a walrus, lopë deti, means “sea cow.” And the Navajo word for a walrus is tábąąstííntsoh bideeʼ hólónígíí. It means “big otter that lies on the shore, with tusks”
