In high school, I was complaining about how long the school day was and my teacher turned to me and said, "the days are long, but the years are short" and I was like "what the fuck are you talking about you lunatic" and then the bell rang and now I'm in my 30s.

The hostility to these drugs is part of the ideology of the disciplined self, which insists that the body must be the expression of a particular mentality, rather than its own reality - a reality which exceeds expression and is always more than will or reason. It’s anti-human, and always has been.
"Many people prefer not to talk about it. That’s their choice, but – well, bugger that. I’m on it, I’ve had blessedly few side effects, and I feel absolutely no shame about any of it."

It finally happened: I wrote about being on weight loss jabs, and the weird sense of shame surrounding them.
I'm on Mounjaro, and not afraid to say it
Enough of the weird embarrassment about the medication, already.

Here's the thing that I hate honestly the most about anti-migrant politics: it is, to me, a direct attack on the holy principle of hospitality, of being a good host in your home, that has underpinned human societies since we learned how to build a house in the first place. Just a total moral crime.

Also, that made up quote is such a wildly odd thing to associate with a Spartan. The spartiates *famously* cared about their status and reputation. It was basically the only thing they cared about!

'O' Stranger, tell the Spartans that here we lie, obedient to their laws.'

There's a thread on AskReddit asking, "People who have had to drain their life’s savings on a single event, what happened?"

99% of the answers are depressing American stories about medical bills, 1% is an Australian who found a wombat burrowing under their house.
