The first question I asked when I learned I am adopted was Is my birthday even my birthday? Plenary adoption robs us of many of the essential elements of our identity. Maybe worst of all, it corrupts our ability to trust in anything at all. #asoption #adopted #adopteerights #identity #truth #trust

Birth mothers from this year’s CUB conference in Atlanta were interviewed about their concerns over systems that drive unnecessary adoptions. Republicans promote adoption as an alternative to abortion and provide tax incentives, but mothers get no support to keep their infants. 🥚

There are more federal tax cuts in the works for people who adopt children. Birth mothers say they also want financial support so they don't have to place their infants up for adoption.

Shocked by the awful death of Rob Reiner. I spoke with him for over an hour last night. We talked about his work and his plans for the future. I always enjoyed his company. We met at his Dad's in 1975. Last thing he said to me was "See you next year.." Such a terrible end. Such a sweet man.

more or less all of us adopted as infants by strangers were, in some way or other, purchased. critics will give us an Econ 101 lecture about the concepts of buying and selling while ignoring how the #adoption market responds to demand—e.g. Black infants’ adoption fees are generally lower.

one way the expectation of gratitude expresses itself is in the way that #adoptees are stigmatized as *angry* about their “adoption experience” when in fact they are simply trying to be *accurate* about that experience, and about what happened to them.
