I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

I do love how archaeology works. "Hey, this is still wrong, but 'less wrong, so let's go with it!'"
With no disrespect to the post below, this is another inaccurate map of the Roman road network of Wales. Both this and the recently publicised digital atlas of ancient roads leaves out roads confirmed in Wales 30 years ago

Still old (2011) - but better is this map...

Sapphire and Steel, a Brit TV series from the turn of the 80s where Joanna Lumley and David McCallum are elegantly dressed elemental forces that repair the web of time. Sci-fi with no spaceship dog fights, just lots of opaque dialogue. I love it.

Started the This Year book of days today. See how long I can keep it as a habit.
Revisiting something off Chile de Árbol, that I received on an mp3 in 2003. Reading it's kernal makes me follow my relationship to it and my history.
Huh.
Not entirely comfortable.

Elon Musk promised a lot of things by 2025

- colonists arriving on Mars
- xAI achieving AGI
- Tesla robotaxis serving half the U.S.
- completely driverless robotaxis
- a Tesla Roadster demo
- DOGE cutting trillions

none of them happened

New, from me: The NYT reporter who specializes in profiles of beleaguered right-wingers on campus went to New College...and found out that things were going ok!

So let me explain some pretty massive errors of omission: 🧵

On DOGE’s watch, federal spending did not go down at all. It went up. But is still led to cuts that closed offices, canceled programs and deprived people of food, medicine and other aid.
