Archaeologist. I like my dog.
Things I did this weekend I enjoyed:
saw people I liked, played cards and werewolf
sleep
reading grimwild
watching a U-9 basketball game
going out to breakfast with my spouse.

So much is terrible. Want to spotlight anything positive.

I know people are on this already, just want to amplify that none of these MN corporations are willing to even *mention* ICE and some have been extremely cooperative with them.

Target is a huge offender there. I think redoubling on #BoycottTarget + telling them why helps.

60+ CEOs release letter on "recent challenges" creating "tragic loss."

Call for "immediate deescalation of tensions and for state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions."

No mention of ICE.

Signers include Target, UnitedHealth, Cargill, General Mills, MN sport teams

Hi, every so often I post about the financial health of my independent podcast, @hyperfixedpod.bsky.social, and I wanted to post an update for the new year. The short version: We're looking to add 1500 premium subscribers this year so I can pay for health insurance for everyone I work with.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

I read book 1 last week and it had me, a non-artist, inspired to grab a notebook and draw for days. Just the coolest and most interesting panels filled with wonder
Hello #PortfolioDay. I went thematic this time: 4 covers for Phenomena. Books 1-3 plus a cover we didn't use. I tried to pack as much of this universe I could in each one while trying to create an impactful image that could work as a single cover (right side of each image) and as a wraparound cover.

This has been really fun. There is a moving discussion following the YouTube comments section for each song that adds more observations and personal experiences
the YouTube book club that people reading my book has formed is such a pleasure to hear about. I try not to look because lead singers gotta keep that ego in check but it’s cool to know about

I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

I do love how archaeology works. "Hey, this is still wrong, but 'less wrong, so let's go with it!'"
With no disrespect to the post below, this is another inaccurate map of the Roman road network of Wales. Both this and the recently publicised digital atlas of ancient roads leaves out roads confirmed in Wales 30 years ago

Still old (2011) - but better is this map...

Sapphire and Steel, a Brit TV series from the turn of the 80s where Joanna Lumley and David McCallum are elegantly dressed elemental forces that repair the web of time. Sci-fi with no spaceship dog fights, just lots of opaque dialogue. I love it.
