Part of it is the right has so thoroughly memed itself into believing that left-wing politics just about identity and nothing else that they think parading random young people for the cameras will bring in more young people

Yeah the EHRC and her appalling stance on trans rights more generally is why I can’t vote for Phillipson. I was really hoping she might try to improve her chances of winning by walking back on some of this, but no sign of that so far

But any Dem senator over 70 in a blue leaning state should really consider stepping down next year, so that a younger replacement can have an easy run and then will have the incumbency boost in the future

I think these are all symptoms of the same thing: Badenoch believes she has formed her worldview through a rational and logical evaluation of all the available evidence, and anyone who disagrees with her is doing so either through ignorance or stupidity, so she has no interest in understanding them

Excellent letter from the Bishop of Birmingham to Robert Jenrick.

At a time when so many other voices have been silent, the bishops have been admirably outspoken against attempts to stir up division.

The churches do a lot of community cohesion work & do not want to see this trashed for party gain.
