It’s the same line of thinking that made Tory anonymous sources spend 2 years telling Kuenssberg “Kemi is a nightmare for the left - she’s a black woman, they will be literally incapable of criticising her” and, spoiler alert, we’ve had no trouble at all criticising her
camtreblig.bsky.social
Part of it is the right has so thoroughly memed itself into believing that left-wing politics just about identity and nothing else that they think parading random young people for the cameras will bring in more young people

Also the first one is three children in a trench coat.

I can’t prove it, I just know in my heart it’s true

Question 1:

“Bro…what happened??”

Sensible policies for a happier Britain
camtreblig.bsky.social
Yeah the EHRC and her appalling stance on trans rights more generally is why I can’t vote for Phillipson. I was really hoping she might try to improve her chances of winning by walking back on some of this, but no sign of that so far

It’s different in Maine, you just gotta have someone who can beat Collins.

But any Dem senator over 70 in a blue leaning state should really consider stepping down next year, so that a younger replacement can have an easy run and then will have the incumbency boost in the future
camtreblig.bsky.social
Tbf I don’t think it’s crazy to be a little concerned that both Vermont’s senators are very old and the governor there is a republican
camtreblig.bsky.social
Unpopular opinion, but if you want to see Trump and MAGA thrown out of office you should be hoping for a recession. Sounds harsh but it’s the truth
camtreblig.bsky.social
In a universe where the Conservative Party actually acknowledges its responsibility for the state of the country, I don’t think Jenrick is permitted to poison the discourse as much as he is doing now
camtreblig.bsky.social
This is why the fish rots from the head. The leadership of the party of personal responsibility is refusing to take responsibility for the consequences of its own actions, which empowers people who will provide them with scapegoats

"I self-identify as minor nobility/landed gentry and am unhappy no one respects that or has made the necessary adjustments"

There is nothing Badenoch cares more about than hating trans people so of course she has to throw that in and of course she does it in the crassest, thickest, most nonsensical way possible
sturdyalex.bsky.social
Badenoch: "While Britain was redefining what a woman is, China built five nuclear reactors."

A perfect summary of conservative idiocy. Glorifying authoritarian post-communism for its efficiency while vilifying democracy for seeking nuance and respect.

It is the Right who hate their own countries.
camtreblig.bsky.social
Deep down she genuinely believes everyone with a different opinion is either an ill-informed ignoramus who needs to be educated or simply too stupid to understand reality
camtreblig.bsky.social
I think these are all symptoms of the same thing: Badenoch believes she has formed her worldview through a rational and logical evaluation of all the available evidence, and anyone who disagrees with her is doing so either through ignorance or stupidity, so she has no interest in understanding them
camtreblig.bsky.social
Ironically we’re not far off seeing if that can be achieved by accident with FPTP
camtreblig.bsky.social
So another Labour majority?

He thought it was stronger than its predecessor, The Grey Album
camtreblig.bsky.social
I agree that’s the most likely route, but I can also see a scenario where Labour stupidly makes electoral reform a hill to die on and ends up nuking coalition talks

Excellent letter from the Bishop of Birmingham to Robert Jenrick.

At a time when so many other voices have been silent, the bishops have been admirably outspoken against attempts to stir up division.

The churches do a lot of community cohesion work & do not want to see this trashed for party gain.

The Bishop of Birmingham has written to the Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick about his comments about Handsworth
camtreblig.bsky.social
Didn’t Jerry Falwell kinda say that at the time?

Incredible that tax-dodging rich people with precisely zero taste are now at the least problematic type of Brit who likes Dubai

I don’t think I could ever really understand a freak like Jenrick. He is an anomalous human being, he’s got that advanced sociopathy you can only acquire at a private school
jamesdaustin.bsky.social
I know plenty of politicians 'working classify' their backgrounds, but this from Jenrick is taking the piss.

His father's linked in is here: uk.linkedin.com/in/bill-jenr...

He was a managing accountant who ended up as the Managing Director of Cannon Industries

(Also quite frankly Jenrick has done enough to merit him not only being sacked from the shadow cabinet but having the whip withdrawn too. But that’s another matter)
