BTW, I would really like @consumerreports.org to watch this video and perhaps start breathing down the necks of those big companies for forcing everyone into using pre-dosed products.

That's the opposite of pro-consumer, imo.

In case you missed it, Governor @governor.ca.gov signed every one of @cayimby.bsky.social 's priority sponsored bills today.

SB 79 was the whale. But there are a ton of big, important bills that went in alongside. Check out Nolan's thread for details.

BIG news: The California Democratic Party just endorsed @scottwiener.bsky.social’s landmark housing bill #SB79, which legalizes multifamily homes near major public transit statewide!

This marks a major shift in state politics: California Dems are *finally* embracing a party that builds!

Even just 5 years ago, CADEM embracing a position like this was unthinkable. The party was too dominated by anti-housing zealots and suburban homeowners.

Today, the vote to support SB79 was 111 to 62.

It’s nothing short of a sea change.

The City of LA, embarrassingly, voted yesterday to oppose #SB79 (legalizing housing near transit).

Watch this incredible rebuttal from @cd4losangeles.bsky.social, where she says that the city isn't acting in good faith to address the housing crisis, & that state intervention has been necessary.

They continue to violate a court order to retrieve someone they illegally deported.

We’re now well beyond a constitutional crisis. If they’re allowed to do this, their secret police can sweep up anyone, for any reason, deport them & refuse to bring them back.

That would be the end of democracy.

Democrats are fundamentally misunderstanding the moment: We're not asking them to be *legislators* right now. We need them to be *politicians.*

There's nothing to be done about the legislative situation. They're right about that. But there's PLENTY to be done as politicians.
CNN: Is democratic leadership is doing enough?

SENATOR JACKY ROSEN: I think that we have to realize that we're in the minority. They have the White House, they have the House, and they have the Senate. So the tools that are available to us here as legislators...they are limited.
