Democracy isn't a system for selecting good leaders.

#Democracy is a system for removing unpopular leaders with the least amount of bloodshed possible."

I really believe nonviolence is the way through this. They have so much fire power, engaging in direct conflict with ICE will get our community members killed. But nonviolent resistance works.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

Someone told me to check out Ed Zitron & his whole analysis is based on his very incorrect belief that large language models do not and will never do useful things (and thus all data center capacity built for them will collapse). That is very wrong. They are useful and this is a software revolution.

MLK was talking about universal basic income before it was trendy.

He believed it could be a cause to unite poor people of all races. And even people with racial biases are more likely to support universal basic income when they’re struggling financially.
Martin Luther King Jr. was ahead of his time in pushing for universal basic income
The policy of providing guaranteed cash incomes has gained momentum in recent years. This tool to tackle inequality has the potential to address racial resentment.

Maybe it was in someone's diary that was published... Goodness, who was it?
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.
