The one tiny silver lining to the grotesque, compulsive cruelty of the right towards trans people is that it instantly illustrates the actual stakes in a way that “just asking questions” newspaper columnists can’t obfuscate
You see this in the US I think; the effort by reactionary Christian freaks and their ostensibly centrist elite media allies to turn nice American liberals into transphobes seems to be largely failing

I grew up in a subdivision built in the 1950s. It was centered on an elementary school, had a Little League complex, two or three playgrounds with basketball courts, a volunteer fire department, a rec center, etc. It didn’t fully work but they really were trying to build a neighborhood
The suburbs as we know them came out of fairly benign, even utopian, theories of urban planning. The isolation and atomization was an emergent thing that hadn’t been anticipated. By now though I think it’s seen as a feature by many (evil) policy makers

I’ve found stimulants don’t really agree with me so now I only take my ADHD meds when I’m in a get it done or get fired kind of situation, but one unexpected advantage of having a formal diagnosis is that it short-circuits the cycle of self-recrimination when my brain stops cooperating with me

I’ve heard a lot of doomers say that Trump would just blame Democrats for a bad economy and people would believe him, but if that didn’t work for Erich Honecker or Nicolae Ceaușescu it’s probably not going to work for him
Since Trump really start declining in early June nothing he and his regime have done have been able to stop his fall. He just keeps dropping. It's pretty remarkable.
