This is AMAZING
One of the biggest moments of my career:
USCIS canceled my client’s naturalization oath ceremony. We filed a lawsuit, went to trial, and the judge swore him in right there in the courtroom!

I'm gonna die on this hill. (you know who you are)

A Notice of Appeal *is* an appeal.
it is not like "the Government has said it is going to appeal."
It "has appealed."

The fact that briefing might be days/weeks/months (or hours! who knows) is a different question.

We may now get to wait an annoyingly long time as every participant in the trial makes their way back to the courtroom. People probably stayed pretty close, but the verdict always seems to come when somebody has just sat down for an embarrassingly prolonged bowel movement.

The US Administration has banned Americans from *adopting babies* from much of the African continent.

Adopting.

Babies.

What trait do those babies have that, when they grow up as fully American adults, would make them a threat to our country in any form?
On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

NB: When I, a professor of law, profess that an act is unlawful, I am not doing it to inform the lawbreaker, but rather to inform you, the reader.

So the question “what, like you think he cares?” is inapposite. The question is whether *you* care. I think you should, which is why I bother.

How does one use an "armada" to "completely surround[]" a country that is not an island?
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

"The jury verdict from 10 years ago contains a scrivener's error insofar as it states that the defendant was not guilty. We are changing that, nunc pro tunc, to guilty."

Yeah, no.
It is not! A “scrivener’s error” is for things like fixing typos or very minor non-material errors, not retroactively adding a deportation order that doesn’t current exist!
Is "correcting" a previous order like this a real thing?

This is such a transparently illegal abuse of process. Anybody who has attended a single semester of law school can issue-spot this as a basic due process violation.
A federal judge ruled Thu morning that no order of removal for Abrego Garcia had ever existed. By Thu evening, an immigration judge had conjured a “Immigration Court’s Sua Sponte Order Correcting Scrivener’s Error," Abrego Garcia's lawyers tell the judge in the emergency overnight filing:
