Yes...honestly, fuck USAID. Gotta choose what we save now, and afaic it's fine to let the blob eat this one
Dems are up in arms about USAID because it’s how we keep other countries dependent on us and part of our “soft power” (whatever that means) loan apparatus. For example, USAID was instrumental in the destruction of Haiti’s agricultural industry.

It's almost like the predatious American health system dehumanizes us all.
“A lot of people are judging him, not knowing him at all,” he said. “And it’s not right. That’s not him. It’s just a sad thing of what has happened and even more sad of what people have tried to turn him into.”

I got incredibly sick in Peru. After suffering for days, my partner had enough and walked to the pharmacy. They sold him a full course of antibiotics for $10 and I was better in 12 hours. Just had a kidney stone in the US; insurance will cover roughly half of the $17K cost, I have to pay the rest.
A while back I asked Americans to talk about getting sick or hurt in other countries and how surprised they were at how little it cost to see a doctor almost everywhere else but here.

🚨NEW REPORT: Health insurers raked in $371 BILLION in profits since passage of the ACA, while raising family premiums to $26K a year.

More than 40% of the profit went to UnitedHealth, whose profits rose 400% as the company denies nearly 1 in 3 claims.

I would like if these same old libs wringing hands over public sentiment could be tarred as "pro insurance ceo" with as much vitriol as they tarred us old lefts for being "pro Saddam" once upon a time.

Hi, I'd like a large frosty, and also for people to start posting health insurance CEOs' reading lists and comments histories, thanks.

Average price per SqFt of home in 1955 was approx $100-110 in 2024 adjusted dollars. In 2024 it is approx $200-250 per SqFt. 10 minutes of googling to debunk this bullshit.
There is a lot that we could and should do to increase housing affordability, but the basic reality is that a nice suburban 1950s family house would be *tiny* by contemporary American standards which is why they were affordable on lower incomes.

In 2020, Biden declared that “the first thing I would do as president” is create a public option to compete with health insurance giants.

Then he won the election and as president he never once mentioned a public option ever again.
Where Did The Public Option Go?
Democrats have completely forgotten about a public health insurance option, choosing instead to deliver expensive subsidies to their industry donors.
