For anyone wondering what this conflict is about, it centers on a metallic element called Coltan and other rare earth minerals. It's used to make capacitors and is in practically all electronic devices. Around 80% of the global supply is in the Congo and 40% in the region of fighting.

Really heartbroken that the M23 rebels have taken Goma... there's a direct link between Elon Musk and the pilfering of minerals from DR Congo. So I have no doubt that this development is empire clamping down on Africa's wealth yet again.

rather than say "this is why intersectionality is important", I would argue this is why divorcing liberalism from Black feminism remains essential, as well as developing revolutionary forms of black feminism and black feminist consciousness that deliberately shirk doing the work of empire
This really highlights why intersectionality is important. You can be a black woman subject to the same systems of oppression as everyone else, yet not have class consciousness, or the goal of liberation for all. These are the representatives that neoliberalism chooses as symbols of "progress."
