"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

LMAO, this thread is hilarious, and also, I love whatever the fuck is wrong with Mr. Kojima.

So Revolver Ocelot is a kidnapped American, who was raised Russian, who thinks he's an movie style American Cowboy, who is possessed by the haunted arm of Liquid Snake, but the arm isn't haunted... b/c he hypnotherapied himself into thinking he was Solid's big brother?!

Like, surely it’s obvious that the purpose of collective society is to provide welfare. That’s the whole deal. The whole reason we cooperate. Or do anything together at all. For increased security. Greater overall quality of life. Money & resources are there. There’s no excuse for our current state.

A social structure geared towards exorbitant gains for the few at the expense of the many is a wholesale hijacking of the purpose of collective society. Survival of the fittest was what we did Before collectivism. It’s not a philosophy meant for a world where there’s more than enough to go around.

Some of you might remember a few years ago when I posted about my son's friend, who is a member of the Boston Ballet. Well, apparently, he's been promoted from Company Member to Second Soloist! And this year he'll be doing several different roles in The Nutcracker.

OMFGAWD, the horrors are unceasing.
I wrote about CNN partnering with a gambling app that lets you wager on famine in Gaza, what this shift portends in our media, the obvious moral hazards of this arrangement, and “news” as politically impotent, disempowering spectator sport
The network will integrate betting odds for life-and-death issues into its coverage. What could possibly go wrong?

A truly great idea. 10,000 ethical assets freely available.

There’s no excuse for resorting to so-called AI with this and the *many* other assets you can use without resorting to laundered plagiarism.

I started at BU in 1989, & started working with multiply-disabled, medically fragile children shortly thereafter at the Massachusetts Association for the Blind. I remember lining up in 1991 at a local clinic to receive the Hep B vaccine. EVERYONE was eager to get it. Not one person was complaining.

Breaking: After contentious debates and three failed attempts at a vote, a federal vaccine committee decided on Friday to end the decades-long recommendation that all newborns be immunized at birth against hepatitis B.

Society would be so much better if we just lined up all these weird, drug-addled, asshole tech bros against some aunties with sandals and let them fucking HAVE IT. It's so obvious none of these people have been corrected in their entire lives, and it's annoying that everyone is too afraid to do it.

Rudolph gets all the love, so let’s talk about the names of Santa’s other reindeer.

dasher | noun | one that dashes
dancer | noun | one that dances
prancer | noun | one that walks or moves in a spirited manner

Ok, those three are easy to understand.
