Are we more committed to convenience than diversity?

Target has made that bet.

Are we more committed to convenience than equity?

Starbucks thinks so.

Are we more committed to convenience than inclusion?

That's Walmart's take.

For those who were directly targeted by Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric, bipartisan tributes to him as a champion of free speech signal the mainstreaming of formerly extremist views, Nikole Hannah-Jones writes in an essay for The New York Times Magazine.

I know we're desensitized, but it's important to note, again, that today's events would have led to the immediate impeachment & removal of any president from at least Truman to at least Obama. We're hundreds of miles on the interstate past Richard Nixon's high school prank-level crimes compared to 👇

Trump wraps up a speech to military leaders that represented a major escalation of his effort to weaponize the armed forces into a tool he can use to violently quash domestic dissent. Hard to imagine how anyone with a shred of dignity can keep serving after this, which of course is the point.

Earlier this month, U.S. House candidate @katmabu.bsky.social, 26, was involved in a confrontation at an ICE rally that went viral.

“If they are willing to do this to a congressional candidate in front of a bunch of press, imagine what they're doing behind boarded-up windows.”

The Des Moines Public Schools said "We have no confirmed information as to why Dr. Roberts is being detained or the next potential steps."

This is the official communication from the FDA to physicians on acetaminophen use in pregnancy.
- They acknowledge the lack of a causal link with autism
- Essentially tell physicians to keep doing what we've been doing anyway
It's very different from the press conference.
Pass it on.
Official communication from FDA to physicians on acetaminophen use in pregnancy acknowledges there is no causal link between its use in pregnancy and autism. Also states clearly that this is the safest over the counter treatment for fever and pain in pregnancy. It is very different from what was communicated at the press conference.

Biden ran to "Save the Soul of the Nation"

Instead he:
Restored broken norms rather than lead a healing transformation

Lied about his health & held onto power instead of fostering healthy debate/transition

Enabled a genocide

Enabled Trump 2.0

Strong argument for one of the worst Presidents ever
gothamgirlblue.com
The most telling statistic I have ever hear is that poverty decreased during the pandemic heights because we were just doing direct payments. We basically had a national UBI pilot and ditched it because Biden wanted to restore status quo ante instead of leading a 21st century New Deal transformation
socio-steve.bsky.social
At some point people need to learn that the poverty rate is mostly about the safety net or lack thereof and not the economy. The economy was doing historically well, real wages rising for the first time in decades, etc. And poverty rose because pandemic safety policies expired.

I am weary.

I hold on to hope.

I just wish we had leaders that actually inspired it.

Hours after Charlie Kirk was shot, I emailed my editors at a major American newspaper a potential column focused on the role of Christian Nationalism + radicalization of young white Christian men.

They killed it. This is what they published instead.

The @startribune.com said they were ending my contract after a year. But, weeks after a year had passed since I signed in August 2024, I received these messages from my editor.

So what was the real reason for firing me?

I know dis/misinformation is a thing, but if you are taking your health advice from a guy who thought it was a good idea to inject bleach into your veins to treat a virus..

rather than clinicians who have gone to school for a decade..

then you likely have bigger threats to your health than Tylenol

If the #ACIP votes not to recommend the MMRV anymore, then that vaccine won't be covered by the Vaccines for Children Program, which makes vaccines free for low-income families. Nearly half of kids are eligible for the program. Medicaid also may not cover the MMRV as a first dose, either. #Equity
