A few years ago I think there was a good case for the subsidy. People were questioning whether office-residential conversions were even possible. Developers have now proven they are and are doing a great job. Time to revisit the level of need for subsidies. #yyccc

Certainly Carney takes this very seriously. I think reducing dependency on the US had more to do with this week's pipeline news than trying to win over votes in the west.
If Canada doesn’t expand pipeline capacity to west coast, Canadian oil exporters will inevitably continue to grow dependence on reexport capacity out of the US Gulf Coast

I think it’s a bad idea to depend on another country to export your product to global markets

🤷🏻‍♂️ Unrelated:
Black Sea attacks getting broader:

“Kazakhstan told Ukraine on Sunday to stop attacking the Black Sea terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, which handles more than 1% of global oil, after a major drone attack halted exports and seriously damaged loading infrastructure.”

This program has been widely successful at revitalizing downtown easing the housing crisis. It is important we keep it going. That said, the large amount of uptake makes it worth asking if we can keep the momentum going while reducing the significant subsidies. #yyccc
Calgary's downtown office-to-residential conversion program, a Gondek priority, is under heavy scrutiny at #yyccc as budget questions of admin continue. Councillor Wyness says it's free money for developers.

When you look at the mix of councilors elected, the results of the #yyccc election are far from a clear ant-blanket zoning mandate. It was only ever a nightmare to those who already own a home, and who's biggest fear in life is finding (free) parking. calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu...
