Forever 31, whatever makes confused retirees at the grocery store call me "ma'amsir", crouching in a ditch shoving content into my wastrel gullet

allegedly sighted in the Detroit outskirts, but eyewitness accounts remain uncorroborated

As someone pathologically conflict-averse, I slur myself in my own display name because I contain multitudes. I guess. Sometimes I do worry it might be read as some kind of "LGB no T" horseshit, which I want to make unequivocally clear: It isn't.
What exactly does it mean to be relevant in an artistic sense? Oftentimes, people will level the critique of irrelevance against a work when what they mean to say is unfashionable. They sense an idiom at play that is not in step with the broader ecosystem of its medium/genre.

I just recently expressed some very similar sentiments around cheating/infidelity as an act that people broadly (and justifiably, to be clear) consider to be a serious moral ill that continues to proliferate despite a heavy culture of shame surrounding it.
CW: pedophilia, sexual harassment

In light of the Epstein documents, we need to talk about just how common and pervasive pedophilia is.

We also need to talk about how most women (as far as I can tell) first become acquainted with their sexual identity through interactions with pedophiles.

Driving should by and large be a specialist profession or hyper-rural phenomenon, 95% of people should be taking the mass transit that should exist but doesn't.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

If it were put to a vote to dissolve the entire federal government and call for an immediate Constitutional convention, I wonder how high the "yes" vote would be

The systems are an afterthought. It's always just people, it's always just been people, since the dawn of us. Petty tyrants, village despots, warlords, god-kings, emperors. All people. All the way down. It will continue to be people until all the people are dust and bones and then nothing.

My mental health has been in a not great place lately, so I'm trying to stay in and take care of myself, as much as it pains me not to be in the crowd today for #NoKings. I'm taking the time to work on my signs for the next round instead.

Last summer I was watching Jaws with my family, and as if I'd been possessed by some AMC pre-movie trivia clip I started telling my niece and nephew about Jaws being the "first blockbuster". Unsurprisingly they had no idea what a blockbuster was

There's kind of a question of exactly how many social media platforms we can migrate away from and write off again until the inevitable conclusion is reached: The entire medium is untenable and frankly we as a species are not wired for this shit.

Sometimes I wonder what it must have felt like to live in an age where a lot of knowledge was locked behind the barrier of literacy and also lots of Latin. Then I remember academic paywalls and realize we're not *that* different.
October 3, 2025 at 12:57 PM
The fucked up thing about where we are is that I think the people in the near future who will be faced with hard and painful decisions will be the lucky and privileged. For a lot of us, there won't *be* options.

Hypocrisy is a tool of power consolidation. People are made deliberately blind to the real mechanisms of politics when their framework is overly rooted in theories of academic ideology as opposed to brute force power consolidation.

Here's the real rub of conservatism as a social phenomenon: it is the distillation of an entitlement to never have to feel social discomfort in any context ever, you never have to feel the indignity of interfacing with someone that is not a mirror of your own life experience

We're really gunning for that "First Country to Have Lunar Casualty Event" record huh
It's full steam ahead for NASA, according to Sean Duffy, the agency's acting administrator. During an internal employee town hall, Duffy warned of "letting safety be the enemy of progress" when it comes to winning the space race, according to a recording obtained by NBC News.
Interim NASA head tells agency that it will beat China back to the moon
Acting NASA administrator Sean Duffy also told agency employees not to let "safety be the enemy of progress."

The baseline assumption of the political media establishment for decades has been that democracy means you have to listen to crackpots
I would really welcome someone in politics saying, with calm, level honesty, that they *don’t* understand the concerns of the far right.

Because that’s a perfectly reasonable position.

Am I some kind of crazy radical if I think that any fundamental legal code should require a full redrafting convention every half century at a bare minimum

Any time I see a response to some atrocity being committed and sanctioned by the state, there's inevitably people crowing about how it's "anti-American". And it's like, y'all really don't get it, huh?

Yes.

"It's potentially harmful" is the argument of someone conditioned to feel moral aversion who can't articulate why the moral aversion exists. There's no debate in that, only defeat.
It’s sad that the discussion around pornography is always framed as “it’s potentially harmful.” It’s also potentially healthy? What did you learn about yourself, your body, your gender, your preferences, your boundaries and your self expression through the smut you consume?

I hate it when other people tell me I could get a better deal on something like I'm too naive to have considered the possibility. I only just stopped being dirt poor a couple years ago, sometimes I want The Nice Thing. Sometimes I'm willing to pay extra for convenience or quality.
i think my general response to "hey you know you can get something similar for less money at this other retailer" is "yeah, i know" and "i want this, not that."

There is a deep rot at the heart of the US as a culture and political body that I'm not convinced any amount of reform could purge

It's so silly, like, what's more dangerous really, a city bus or Jill from the suburbs behind the wheel of an F-150
We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.
