January 6 was like a much dumber version of Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch and yet a plurality of American voters were like, Yeah, let’s give that guy the nuke codes again. An absolutely world historical debacle of societal ignorance. I’ll never understand it.

One thing you can say about Trump, he’s undeniably useful for exposing the moral rot and patronage that sustains elite cosmopolitan society.

Exactly. It's disingenuous to call it a purity test to say "You shouldn't be beholden to right-wing billionaires pushing right-wing policies and right-wing candidates."

No, Progressives Don’t Want “Purity.” They Just Want Some Courage.
When left-leaning Democrats complain about corporate influence, it’s not a “purity test.” It’s a demand for a better politics.

An entire room full of powerful old white people smiling and laughing as the president dehumanizes black immigrants and the first black president.

Just fucking pathetic.
Trump, continued: "What the Somalian people have done to Minnesota is not even believable. It’s not even believable. And a lot of it starts with the governor. A lot of it starts with Barack HUSSEIN Obama, because that’s when people started coming in... They want to kiss our country good night."

The whole point of all that noise about pushing for American energy independence, which we now basically have, was that we would no longer be so economically dependent on Middle Eastern oil. That was the pitch to people. OK, we're now a net energy exporter. Mission accomplished! Cut them loose.

The hill I'll die the hardest on is that almost everything "WE WERE NEVER TAUGHT IN SCHOOL" (slavery, Irish famine, etc) is stuff that you were taught in school but weren't paying any attention to because you were 14 and thinking about girls/boys/football/scifi/all of the above instead of the lesson
The comments here that are questioning the history curriculum: WE LEARN THIS IN SCHOOL. I DON'T KNOW HOW PEOPLE MISS THIS.
holy shit: “Among the 2,000 UK adults surveyed, 85% were unaware that Britain forcibly transported more than 3 million Africans to the Caribbean, 89% did not know that Britain enslaved people in the Caribbean for more than 300 years” www.theguardian.com/world/2025/n...

Predictable but still amazing to watch people who spent literally years accusing every librarian, teacher, and trans person they could find of sexually grooming children suddenly throw themselves in with "actually it's ephebophilia"
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

But there's more to go! Many of the donor-matchers don't cap out until we hit 500 ppl -- and that means we need ~168 more folks on board by 11:59pm PST Friday! 😆

Every donor triggers +$54 in matcher donations! Plus a 2x!

The thing I don’t get is why “Don’t Start Shitism” isn’t more popular. As a trans woman, I’d *like* for people to consider me a real girl, but if you don’t, what’s stopping you from just rolling your eyes and moving on? I’d like to think one thing we all have in common is that we’ve got shit to do.
