10 people are killed or seriously injured every week while walking or cycling in Irish roads .

An 18 month delay will see 780 deaths and serious injuries. We know that we could prevent at least 200 of those by reducing speed limits but this government refuses to act.

The response from the Minister's representative at yesterday's meeting in Leinster House was shocking.

It's very clear that this government is not taking road safety seriously and people will die as a result.

www.fm104.ie/news/fm104-n...
Jason Cullen from the Dublin Commuter Coalition said a response from a staff member from the Junior Transport Minister, Sean Canney's office, during that presentation, was alarming.

"The clear indication that we got from the Minister's staff member there, was that it would be at least 18 months before we see any form of instruction to local county councils.

'When I pointed out to him that within that time 20 to 30 cyclists will probably have been killed on our roads due to the current trends that we're seeing, the response from him was that it is 'regrettable' that that will happen.

"It really took my breath away."

If the DPC isn't onto the question of the source of this leak (whether from the Gardaí or elsewhere) then I don't know what the purpose of its 'own volition' investigation powers are.

Sorry, but this is some old baloney. But also, I have GDPR questions about the emergance of this story.

Well I certainly didn't expect solar output record to be broken on September Equinox in Ireland!
greencollective.io
🚨 A new high for Irish solar today as output exceeds 900MW for the first time, beating the previous high of 864MW set in July.

It seems to have peaked at 943MW at 12.45pm, equivalent to approx. 19% of all-island electricity demand at that time ☀️

More to follow!
A stacked area chart of the electricity generation mix on the island of Ireland. There are eight fuel types: pumped storage, biomass, waste-to-energy, hydro, solar, wind, oil, and gas. There is also a black line showing electricity demand.

Footnote reads: All-island figures. Excludes domestic solar. Source: EirGrid, SEMO

So one of the sustainable clothing brands I like quite a lot names their clothes after places. Generally sunny, beach places.

They have run out of ideas and are doing places in Ireland and it is like falling into an alternate dimension.

For those who won't reach the end... Cllr Flynn added: "With all due respect, gentlemen, if this were your neighbourhood and all of a sudden there were two pedestrian crossings being sucked down the end without your consent...”

The council adding zebra crossings to neighbourhoods? The horror!
irishcycle.com
You don't have to read the full thing to get a sense of it, but given that I wrote it as a long read, I hope somebody reads it all.

I hope it gives insight into how some local area meetings spend their time, and why the council then takes longer than you'd expect to install zebras/cycle routes etc

Minister for Transport, Darragh O'Brien, has just been on @rteone.rte.ie news insisting on the need to grow Dublin Airport capacity from 36 million passengers per year to a potential 60 million, liberally sprinkling his speech with the word 'sustainably'.

Far right influencers, the US government and national media all colluded with malice to cook a story that would target all trans people with violence before any facts were available that could contradict.

You can’t call this tin foil hat thinking either b/c we all watched it happen in real time.

- you clean up that banksy?
- sure did, your honour, leaving a perfect, permanent outline, imbuing the work with real fuckin gravitas while making its point better than the artist did himself just like you asked

They erased the new Banksy mural in London. But the stain remains.
Side-by-side images of Banksy’s mural on the Royal Courts of Justice in London. On the left, the artwork appears faded and scrubbed, leaving only a ghostly outline of a judge raising a gavel over a protester holding a placard. On the right, the mural is fully visible in sharp black and white stencil, showing a judge in a traditional white wig and robes striking down at a protester who defends himself with a bloodied sign.
