I've spent the last 29 years making the world more cynical, one child at a time. Now I spend my time gluing things to other things and telling the cats to get the hell off the table.
Watching the season-ending ep of Heated Rivalry and no, it's not me who's crying. And laughing at the manager-mom who's micro-managing everything.

For legit reasons, 23yo wasn't coming for Xmas until Sat pm, so he would be here for both family events but not much more. He texted tonite "change of plans is it cool if I come home tomorrow instead"

Yes, yes it is!!

I have awoken from my Christmas post-dinner nap. Now what?
December 26, 2025 at 12:23 AM
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The cats were all wond'ring if mice would survive
While Mom was expecting packages to arrive

Three presents expected, gift cards and an album
A set of tea bags, and no other pablum

I've hit the "I have no idea what to get anyone so I'm just gonna spend ALL THE MONEY and hope I get it right" stage of Xmas shopping.

TMI warning: Six weeks of spotting/bleeding. SO FAR. Last fall it was over two months, then it settled down to something regular-ish for a year. Here we go again... for how long?

I'm 55 MFing years old, goddammit. Let's shut this bullshit down. #ImTired #ThisIsBullshit #TheresNothingLeft #ImOld

Hey, I want to offer some helpful tips for coping with the cold for ICE folks who might have come from warmer places.

1. Wear cotton socks! Cotton is nice and soft next to your skin and will absorb your sweat so your feet stay warm. Cotton everything but ESPECIALLY socks!
Good morning to fuckers in our neighborhood kidnapping our neighbors! Can you see the city skyline? No? You’re wondering if Minneapolis burned down again overnight? Oh no, sweetie. That’s ice crystals in the air . It looks like it will get to around -8F without windchill! Please enjoy your stay!

Any Mpls peeps need anti-ICE whistles?
just heard about MSP and I am big mad.

CHICAGO WANTS TO SEND YOU WHISTLES.

We know this is scary. Take care of each other. We have your back. 🖤

Can confirm. 😉
Credit where it’s due: that’s a phenomenal headline
"The team hypothesized that men 'require more explicit vocalizations to notice and respond to the needs of their cats.' In other words, the researchers are suggesting that many cats have concluded that men don’t always listen, and adjusted their behavior accordingly."

I wanted to be the kind of girl who knew how to be that kind of girl but rejected it in a fit of feminist scorn.

The scorn doesn’t work as well if “they” can tell you were out of your league anyway.

Hotdish a big success, having all 3 kids together a bigger success. Man, I missed how fun they all are when together.

23yo went out w/ friends in time-honored Tgiving tradition, 29yo went home to her spouse, 21yo made stuffing w/ me and watched hockey w/ us. Tgiving Eve is a success in this house.

Work was dead, home by 1:30, 29yo here cleaning (she comes weekly, usually on Fri). She cleared the DR table (usually full of pill bottles and other Schmoop detritis) and laundered both boys' bedding along w/ usual stuff. She'll come back for Hotdish when boys are here. Will be nice 2b all together.

I used to make The Hotdish in prep for Schmoop's arrival, but not often for my kids. Now that he lives here, I don't make it for him real often - now I make it for my sons' arrival (tomorrow, yay!).

Anyway, hotdish prepped and ready to be baked tomorrow whenever someone gets hungry. #Tired

Also, the 80s term for "fooled you" is psych, not "sike".
"Busses" means kisses. The plural for vehicles is "buses".
If you're crying your eyes out, you are "bawling", not "balling", which has a couple of wildly different meanings.
Thank you for your consideration.
Phase means a period of time.

Faze means disconcerted .

To be phased means you are going through a part of a process.

To be unfazed means you are chill.

I guess I'm not shocked that the right was having Braveheart fantasies about how billions must die to avenge Iryna Zarutska and couldn't possibly care less about Amber Czech because there's no race-war angle but it's still pretty nauseating

Yep. Assume my RL name is Cinnamon (It's not), I grew up being called Cinny, decided as an adult to be Cin. My dad never got it, my mom tried (good when writing, slipped verbally, I get it). Sibs mixed results. Oddly, one sis refused to care until trans rights mattered, then she got it. #ItsNotHard
Calling folks what they ask to be called just isn’t that challenging.

And we do it for Katherine who goes by Katie, and John->Jack, and Morton->Skip…

Why not let other kids choose what they’re called?

(It’s hard when you’re the mom and your kid chooses a new name…but it’s absolutely doable.)
"[A] study of 129 transgender and gender nonconforming students found that having their identities affirmed decreases symptoms of severe depression. ... Refusing to use preferred names tells transgender and nonbinary students they're unworthy of respect."

I plugged my phone in 4 hrs ago, didn’t realize until now that it wasn’t charging. Now I have to stay up until it charges to a decent point that will carry me thru till I get to work tomorrow. Sigh. I’m tired.

Attending a memorial tomorrow for an acquaintance who passed away of a heart attack at 47. Our kids were the same ages: the oldest (girls, close in JrHigh) are now 29, older sons were besties in Elem, younger sons were a yr apart w/ shared interests. Group slumber parties, etc. Those poor kids.

Seeing all the Aurora Borealis pix tonight on both FB and BSky, this is how I feel. Find the joy where we can; it's worth it.
Still capable of joy, I love this for us

I tried to get NL pix; these were the best I could get. Oddly, they were more to the west, nothing from the north.
